To put it bluntly, these guys are crooks. My wife called to have them replace the hot/​cold water taps feeding our washing machine. They showed up and convinced her that there was a smell caused by sewer gas and that a P-​Trap was required. The smell, was actually the stale water/​detergent in the washing machine we were replacing. Not knowing any better, my wife agreed. She also had them look at a water pipe in our garage that had burst over the winter.
The plumber (driving a Rapid Rooter truck) was there for less than 45 minutes, replaced two hose-​bibs, installed a p-​trap that we didn’t need and replaced 6 inches of copper pipe, for this they left a half-​filled out bill and tried to bully wife in to writing a cheque for $ 2,300. When she refused, he begrudgingly agreed to accept a credit card for this ridiculous charge.
When I got home and called them to follow up on this ridiculous amount, the guy who answered the phone tried to convince me these were industry standard charges for the work done, ignored the fact that we didn’t actually need a p-​trap installed and promised he would send a detailed line item bill, which of course never happened.
I’ve had this job quoted by 3 different plumbers since, and not one of them estimated more than $ 400 for this entire job.
Again to put it bluntly, these guys are crooks who will take advantage of a woman who doesn’t know any better.
