I discovered The Pie Pantry via Western Fair’s Farmers Market as they regularly have a table set up with all their tasty homemade treats. I have had nothing but extremely satisfying pies from this bakery based in Aylmer. You can taste the freshness from the super flaky crust to the perfect amount of fruit filling. My favourites are pecan and strawberry rhubarb, but during the summer I had the taste sensation of a peach and blueberry combo and it was divine. Between me and my roommates I think we’ve had just about every creation and none of us will admit to licking the pie plate clean. Seriously, you can’t go wrong here. So many delicious options for the pie lover in you. If I don’t go to the market weekly, I usually crave one by the following Wednesday. The nice thing is the variety of sizes — full pies, small pies and tarts — so you can indulge or buy to share. Now the item that makes it especially worth the drive to Aylmer is the cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon and icing is a sweet delectable balance that doesn’t leave that overly colying taste of excessiveness on your tongue. They are absolutely amazing. The lovely staff of this bakery are very sweet and are happy to accomodate special orders. They also offer gluten free items, cookies and meat pies. The storefront also sells a nice sample of locally made preserves as well.
