The beer is great and the tap room girls are awesome. The tour was the low point because the girl didn’t seem as knowledgable as I wanted. She was sounded as she was making things up on-the-fly. Overall a great experience and I recommend not only the place but the beer also.

This place is quite fun. They have a retail store with at least three taps with different beers on each for you to get sampler sizes. And then they also have multiple bottles for you to try too! The staff were nice, but why wouldn’t they. They serving great beer. There is a selection of t-shirts and hoodies and tap handles too! Some on discount. The washroom in here has some funny stuff in it too. What I think they could improve is the beer tour. You get a free cup of beer for the tour with a purchase of a glass. But the tour could be more interesting. The guy who led ours was truly passionate about the brewery, but I think it could be more interesting. Best part of this place and most breweries, the one-offs that you can’t find in your local LCBO. They might also want to think about partnering with some local place to serve food too. Maybe an easy way to get pizza delivery from some local shop. Only thing you’ll get here is chips!

I’ve been here for multiple occasions throughout the year and I have to say, this brewery just rocks, period. Whether you’re here for a summer pour or a winter pick me up, it’s just damn good. You can just walk in and ask for a sample and the beer gods will obey and fill your glass. Once I had a special beer glass made for my boyfriend and snuck it behind the counter for the lady to fill up. I gave her a wink and she knew exactly what to do. Before we knew it, this glass was full to the brim with Netherworld dark ale and brought right to our little window side table. During the promenade celebrations, they set up a patio on Dunlop and let the street wanders take a seat and hydrate. During Ribfest, they set up shop under a tent and pour home brews plus some summerlicious beers too. During the winter, they decorate the windows with lights and garland and really bring in the Christmas spirit. The staff are so warm and welcoming! I went for a birthday tour and was very thrilled to see they named their vats after some Ace Ventura quotes. I can’t exactly go into detail but always remember, laces out! Their gift shop is sweet too. I proudly sport their sweaters and tanks as if I work there. Ain’t no shame here. TIP: Always try their special beers when they’re on tap or bottled. It’s worth the experience since it’s not available year round.

We went for a tour on a Sunday. Website says 1&3. Got there a bit before 3 to find they had only scheduled the 1 pm tour for the day. We were lucky that Bruce, the tour guide was more than pleased to give our party of 4, plus several others who arrived, the tour. Bruce was wonderful, he’s a «seasoned» citizen, with a terrific sense of humor who made the tour both fun and informative. They offer samples of all their current beers, plus if you buy a Flying Monkey glass, you get 1full size free beer. I highly recommend visiting this place if you are in the Barrie area

Each year around the Canada Day weekend, the city of Barrie shuts down the streets within it’s downtown core and hosts it’s annual Promenade celebration. A mix of street festival, fair, and fireworks — the perfect way to celebrate you national pride. How did I celebrate Promenade? Why, at the tables of Flying Monkeys Brewery is where! And what a perfect day to attend! While I was a little disappointed that the samples cost money and the tours of the brewery weren’t running, I was thrilled that they offered up a great patio that ‘poured’ into the street AND12 new flavour options on tap currently not in store! 4−6oz(cannot be sure of exact size) samples were being served in 4’s in a large fraternity style paddles. Each 16 – 20 oz paddle came at a great price of only $ 5. You could get 4 full pours for $ 5 each($ 20 a paddle). Either way a great deal and a great way to sample beer — and get half a buzz on! As you’ll see from the picture I shared I went with 4 options currently not in their LCBO bottled offerings. They were: Sterovision, Wild Patties Crazy Berry, Genius of Suburbia and Shoulders of Giants Imperial IPA! My thoughts… — Stereovision — a light, smooth easy drinking beer. Little after taste. — Wild Patties Crazy Berry — this«berr-y-ly» tasted like a beer! Filled with rich fruit flavour but not overwhelming so like frülli, more subtle, but still enough to calm down the hops — Genius of Suburbia — admittedly this one was a mystery to me and I forgot to make tasting notes… Did enjoy it though! — Shoulders of Giants Imperial IPA — an INTENSEIPA. So hoppy I could almost bite the hops in each sip. STRONG aftertaste. not for everyone, but I enjoyed it! They’ve got tons of amazing beers, beer schwag and friendly staff. I really enjoyed my visit and cannot wait to return again!

Friendly knowledgable staff. i love that you can mix your flavours and still get the two-four price. It’s so hard to choose as all the beers are amazing.

I love Flying Monkeys! Everything here so colorful, full of energy. This place feels like an adult«Disneyworld» than a brewery. But Flying Monkeys is definitely the happiest place in the world for beer lovers! Free tour! Free Tasting! All these colorful glasswares, t shirts… Free beers… How many did I try? Every single one aside from the special editions… This is better than Disney! Definitely worth a visit when you in Barrie! Maybe one day my Unilocal friends can see those monkeys. all he needs to do is drink a whole bottle of Matador Double IPA(ABV11.3%)!

I was told there would be monkeys! Some friends and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Flying Monkeys brewery for a free tour on a weekday. What a nice little brewery this is, walking in you definitely get the warm brew pub vibe from the tasting room. Our tour guide was quite nice and took us on a short tour of their small facility(I was shocked at how small their brew house was). In addition to the tour we got to sample each of their beers, unfortunately for some unknown reason they did not have any draught beer on this day so our samplings had to come from bottles, negative points for that. They also have a retail section here where you can buy t-shirts, glassware, bottle openers and of course beer! The location is very convenient, located on a main strip by the lake in downtown Barrie; this would definitely be a great spot in the summer time. Overall I enjoyed my visit to this little brewery. Maybe I’ll get to see some monkeys next time…

Go for the tour, stay for the samples! Flying Monkeys offers tours of their brewing facilities Monday-Friday at 2pm and Saturday & Sunday at 1pm &4pm. The tour was a great way to see where my favourite beer is brewed. They had draught beer flowing to accompany us while touring the beautiful waterfront location. There’s also a store that sells Flying Monkeys swag like glasses, shirts, bottle openers etc. but MOSTIMPORTANTLY they have fridges stocked with all their different beers for sale. This was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. It’s downtown Barrie right on the water and only an hour and a bit from Toronto.
