I walked in there and the man(owner or manager) looked at me like I didn’t belong… No greeting, nothing. Thank you very much?! If you plan to go there on a week-end you better have reservations or you will be sent to the picnic tables or offered a seat inside. The chalkboard is a mess and very difficult to read. I had the chilled lobster roll and cole slaw salad, it was delicious. My husband had the crab cakes. We were both happy with our meals. I felt very uncomfortable there and wouldn’t go back inside after the first encounter with«that» man and believe me, I am not shy! Maybe he was having a bad evening or something. But, when customers arrive, I would like to know that we are wanted. Would I go back? Yes. Hoping that the reception is a bit more friendly.

Incredible. The ambiance is perfect, the views are breathtaking and the food is top notch. I had the crab cakes which were possibly the best I’ve ever had. My wife had the halibut which was succulent and seasoned to perfection. Aim to get there at sunset to see some truly magical colours.

After being to so many different seafood places, I am dare to say the food here is above par but not stunning. Some how both my friend and I thought the food lacks a bit of taste. I am not saying those salt or MSG crap. It is just being at restaurants at Maritime, the fresh seafood are supposed to be amazingly tasty on their own without much additives. Somehow, the lobster roll tasted mostly mayo and the steamer pots are all mostly basil. The defense I would give them is we didn’t go there at the middle of lobster season. But that didn’t affect the other restaurants we tried on the island. What you can’t beat is the view and atmosphere. We sat right beside the sea at the patio with the view of both the point prim light house and beach. That definitely gave them additional points to the experience. The restaurants get really crowded quickly. Try make reservation or go early if you want a good seat. Also they don’t open year round so be aware.

Showed up at the last minute for supper on a Saturday night. Thankfully they were able to find us a beautiful spot right on the beach. Highlights included the clam and chorizo, the crab cakes and the excellent sausage with a wine sauce. The pulled pork grill cheese could have used a little bit more meat. To cap it all off, there was a great atmosphere. Highly recommended for a tasty and casual seaside meal.

I wish I could give this place a couple more stars! What a view!!! What a great chef!!! What great service!!! We were on PEI for only five nights, and twice we had dinner at the Chowder House. Both times I ordered the STEAMERPOT made with clams, mussels, halibut, crab legs in a broth served with delicious garlic toast. Both times we experienced spectacular sunsets while we dined on the deck.

Amazing seafood. If you love seafood, this is a must-stop! It’s named for the chowder, and we had both kinds, but the real standouts were the lemon cream mussels and the steamer pot, which overflowed with seafood, including phenomenal crab(and I’m a west coaster who has eaten fresh caught crab all my life). I don’t think I’ve met a better base for mussels than the not-heavy but perfectly lemony sauce. There were two other mussel sauce choices and I am sure they are excellent too. I liked the cream chowder better than the manhattanesque — red beans was just too far from traditional for me – but everything was really well prepared and a real casual dining treat. Great wine and beer, and probably the best patio we found on the east coast, this place will be a fond memory for these six seafood lovers for a long time.

WOW! We had the oysters to start, and then muscles in a tomato garlic sauce. Everything was fantastic! So fresh it felt like it had just been pulled from the ocean, and prepared with simple elegance. Just a stunning meal! For desert we had the strawberry rhubarb crumble and a mojito. Again, everything was made to absolute perfection. Nice clean flavours, fresh tasting, and just the right amount of sweet — definitely not too sugary. Loved every minute of it! Just a tip: make a reservation in advance.

We had the clam chowder which was fabulous. The views are wonderful too as the place is overlooking the Northumberland Straight. There’s a really charming lighthouse across the street. This is a family run business and the owners make you feel at home. The crab legs are also delicious. The rustic atmosphere is welcoming, the service good and the food is fantastic.

We stopped here for lunch while touring lighthouses and had the best meal of our trip. The steamed mussels in lemon cream were amazing, and a strawberry rhubarb crumble for dessert was the best I’ve ever had. Delightful service, very friendly and nicely relaxed and casual atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Listen, hands down, the best(water side) eating experience in PEI, maybe even the Canadian East Coast. You have to have the steamer pot and the local IPA — it was awesome! Even the kids loved it… The icing on the cake was watching the seals out in the water. Great experience all around.

Took a country drive out to Point Prim for a lunch with THEMOSTAMAZINGVIEW on PEI(or at least the most spectacular view of our most recent trip!). Try a Chowderhouse Special Cocktail — I recommend having PEI Moonshine at any opportunity, so here is my fave: MOONSHINEMOJITO($ 7) Island distilled shine, house made syrup, fresh mint & soda, on the rocks(um yessss please…) How our orderings broke down: Me: Clam Chowder, Grilled Cheese, Salad Mr. Rosie S.: Mussels, Lobster Roll, Salad Mr. Friend: Chowder, Lobster Roll Mrs. Friend: Lobster Roll, Salad Shared: Oysters Every single dish was delicious, simple and masterful. Nothing too heavy, nothing overdone. LOVE. We also watched the tide go out over the course of our meal… island PERFECTION! Service was great. Everyone(staff and other patrons alike) enjoyed the toddler in our party and his dancing around other tables! We found great shells on a detour to the beach(tide now out) on our way back to the car which is an extra bonus to visiting! This basically sums it up, as posted on their walls: «We have a motto: ‘IFIT’S NOTFROMHERE, IT’S NOTHERE!’ »
