Over priced bland food. Really dissapointed with this place. Our waiter was nowhere to be found most of our dining experience and didn’t even give us water. My drink was so weak it might have been non-alcoholic and they were out of stock on many beers. Would not go back.

Ordered onion rings as an appetizer and the MJ burger and Shepard’s pie. After 30 minutes of waiting the waitress comes back to tell us that someone pulled the slip off the kitchen lineup so the kitchen didn’t know we ordered food(she used waitress terms that we didn’t understand so we asked her to clarify). She apologized and said she put it back up… So we waited double the time for mediocre food. Never coming back since there are so many other options on the resort. Waitress never brought onion rings so we told her to forget it. The burger was standard and the Shepard’s pie was very dry.

I came in with my dad and brother for some drinks after dinner. The bartender was completely rude, arrogant, and unfriendly. As soon as we ordered, this crap bartender did not talk to us, and seemed preoccupied, even though we were the only people there. When we paid he didn’t even look at us, and did not give a common courtesy thank you or anything. Just seemed like an arrogant ass, and that bothered me. As an American I always hear a ton of people say we are arrogant and rude. Yet, aren’t Canadians supposed to be friendly? Disappointed in the service.

Great pub situated perfectly in the village… been here a few times and the food has always been good, the staff welcoming and efficient and the atmosphere lively and energetic. Great spot!

We got our orders after 45 minutes. The server didn’t confirm the orders after getting that so she misheard one meal and didn’t even care when we told that this is not what we wanted. All dishes were mediocre and didn’t worth their price. At the end the server didn’t even ask whether we wanted separate bills and put all meals on one bill. She said that servers don’t give separate bills on busy days…

Don’t eat here. Horrible food. We roast beef and chef special. Kids had chicken nuggets with fries. All food was bad. Beef was inedible. I essentially dipped bread and gravy and just ate that. Chicken was plastic almost. Kids even hated the fries(a first). All around bad.

Chicken pot pie was still frozen. Is Irish stew the equivalent of soup. A bit expensive for stew soup(no bread wanted) St 13.95. Grilled chicken too dry. The only star goes to the salad. Sorry, but we came away hungry and grumpy

We read the other Unilocal reviews after being seated and ordering. It put a scare into us to the point we actually considered leaving. Luckily, we stayed since our experience was just fine. 7 completely different meals and not one complaint. I would order the steak and mushroom pie again. Our server wasn’t particularly sharp but she was pleasant enough and managed to get the job done.

By far THEWORST place to eat in the whole village. SERIOUSLYSAVEYOURTIMEANDMONEY– do not go!!! My husband and I stayed for a week for out honeymoon and saved this ‘gem’ for our last night. We came for a late dinner at 9pm and there only 5 other tables in the whole place(most finishing up eating or just having drinks). Took 10 minutes just to get a menus. We were finally ready to order and started with a large Caesar salad. After a few bites I found a huge long price of hair. We told the server and she said she’s being us out a new salad. After 15minutes, she brought out the exact same salad.(I know this because my husband had picked out the bacon the first time around and added black pepper and when it came back out it was just the same) then took another 25minutes for meals to come out. I ordered chicken ‘strips’ but they were the size of my pinky finger. More like a chicken nugget and were extremely rubbery. My husband ordered the beef dip and it was also extremely rubber. We ordered a side of soda bread and it was rock hard, not even editable. The server never came back to top up our drinks either. WORST.EXPERIENCE.

Location is good but food is not high class. Chicken pot pie was tasty in the inside but not crispy on the outside like it would’ve been if it was baked in the ice and not just nuked in the microwave. Wedge fries had way too much salt; the salad was good spring mix. The onion rings are a tad pricey for just being plain. For the price I was expecting gourmet, large chunky beefsteak onion rings in panko batter. It was hot and fresh at least. I would recommend if you couldn’t get in anywhere else in the village.

The beer was good and the location in the village was perfect. Just don’t eat the food, the shepherds pie anyway. Burgers might be OK.

Went here for drinks with the girlfriends. BIGBIGBIG mistake. The place was«crowded» so there was a lineup at the door. A couple of ladies had gone out for a smoke and had to line up to get back in. They hadn’t been told they needed to line up again to get in. We let them in in front of us as they were already customers of this place. The security only let in a couple people at a time. What a pain as we were a larger group. The floor was wet and sticky and the place stinks. We went to hear the band and were standing fairly close to the stage. Band was really good which was the ONLY good thing about this place. The next thing I realize was that one of my party was being escorted out a side door to an unoccupied patio by a security guard. We went right after them as it was a secluded space. Apparently he didn’t like the way our friend was«swaying to the music» so he kicked her out of the bar. The guard had to remove 2 stacks of patio chairs from the patio exit to let us out. Can you say«Safety Hazard»? I complained to the«Head of Security» and he said it was that guy’s discretion. Yeah, and all the young things were«swaying» much more to the music and didn’t get kicked out for it. NEVERAGAIN!!! The only reason for one star? I can’t give them zero!

After a quick stroll around the village on a rainy day, we ended up at this place after quickly perusing their menu which was posted outside. With the cold and damp weather, I had a sudden craving for some soup though I had originally wanted a salad with salmon which they did not have. Then again, that’s not something you’d see on an Irish pub menu so that’s fair. Seafood Chowder — Was hearty and creamy. Also had some imitation crab meat which you never really see in chowder but this actually gave it a bit more flavor which was nice. The Irish Soda Bread was alright if that’s your thing. I personally prefer chowder with some oyster crackers or even plain crackers but it was still very good on its own. 5⁄5. Chicken Pot Pie — It’s hard to find the perfect pot pie at a pub or really anywhere since you’ll not only look at the crust but also of course the filling. Both were perfection here. The crust was perfectly crispy and the filling was nice and creamy as well as very hearty. 5⁄5. MJ’s Burger — One of the best burgers I’ve tasted from a pub. Good size, patty was juicy and flavorful. 5⁄5. Chicken Wings — They were a good size and was nicely fried however, my serving was quite cold. Was more like room temperature and it’s definitely not from the sauce it was coated with. 3⁄5. One other con with this place other than the cold chicken wings is the fact that they do not accept debit which is an inconvenience regardless if they have an ATM machine on site which of course charges you to take out your own money($ 2.50 per withdrawal). For a restaurant to be at a prime location at a very well known resort in Ontario, it’s a bit surprising and disappointing that they do not accept debit. Management should bare in mind that majority of their clients are Canadians.

Enjoyed the live music, nice guy with his guitar, he was funny, great voice, entertaining. Beer was good, Whiskey Sour was delicious and one of us was very happy that the bartender was able to make a Grasshopper cocktail. Overall, the service was fantastic but unfortunately they had to close early that night, luckily, the pizza/pub across the street had live music as well. Won’t eat here based on reviews regarding the food but would return for drinks.

I SHOULDHAVEREADPREVIOUSREVIEWS! Popped in here with my Girlfriend for some lunch. We both ordered fish & chips with poutine on the side. The fish was rubbery /over cooked, probably the worst I have ever had. The poutine was mediocre, nothing great but not horrible. The coleslaw was great !! Best part of the meal. And the worst part, the service ! Our server, who was either Amanda or Summer, was completely useless, got our drinks wrong, served our food with no cutlery & then made us wait 15min before the fork & knife showed up! She needs to find another career

Awful place. Was there with a friend yesterday. They were out of French onion soup and the credit card machine wasn’t working. We kept on asking for water without ice and each time the waiter brought it, it always had ice. The service was slow and the place wasn’t even half full. The wings were $ 11 and were rather bland. My friend got over cooked dark brown coloured fries and when she asked to change them, they said it would take 6 mins to make another batch and literally 2 mins later they brought the same fries just in a different dish. I ordered Irish stew which I didn’t even finish as it was gelatinous and not very appetizing looking. There was meat though. Bad service, bad food. Never go again. Never.

Ok my own mistake. I didn’t review Unilocal before entering to this place… Obviously they enjoy the premium real state to keep the business going in Blue Mountain, I don’t see any other reason why such low quality and service would make a business survive. We were offered the most uncomfortable booth in the restaurant, it was just difficult to stay sited, it is tall and very narrow, not at code I’m sure, anyway we asked the server to move us to a regular table, which she said yes but never did. But really what is making me giving them one star is the quality of the food. How difficult is to fry some fish and chips? Well, this has been the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Over cooked on the sides kind of raw in the inside, fries? Same thing, big pieces of the lowest potato quality, which were not well cooked in the inside and wait yes they forgot to add salt. My wife ordered the stew and it was just a pepper broth, really disgusting. Sorry no tip this time, hoping that you guys make an effort next time.

For where you are, and what you pay for, this place is the best around that price range. All the other restaurants within the village are all 3 money signs and above. So if you want to budget eat without going to the food court, then you’ll have to suck it up. I mean, the price is what you find in a regular Toronto pub… $ 11/pound of chicken wings, $ 7/pint… for the same price your only option is probably the Poutine place and starbucks. As expected, service is SLOW. But when you’re here, you’re just taking a long break from snowboarding, not like you’re in a hurry to go anywhere… Food… is OK. I ordered the nachos and they were very generous with the cheese(good sign), although the nachos were soggy after 10 short minutes. Chicken wing peices are pretty big, so value wise, it’s not bad. Beer is beer. It’s the same everywhere, doesnt matter how or where it’s poured. So you really can’t complain the taste of beer unless the keg is 2 weeks old, or the lines were watered down.

When you first walk into this place, you’re hit with a sour stench of socks and vinegar. Signed Irish football jerseys hang on the walls and the menu items are written in both Gaelic and English. Like all Irish pubs, the place is woody and warm — the perfect spot for a pint of beer and a hearty meal starring mashed potatoes. Kudos to the designers and carpenters. Unfortunately, beauty and brains just don’t mix sometimes. The food is a joke. It actually makes me angry. Like all the establishments in Blue Mountain, MJ Byrne’s Irish Pub is overpriced. Unlike its competing pubs and restaurants(like Rusty’s) the food is absolute crap and worth no more than $ 5. My clam chowder tasted like reheated milk water, featuring three defrosted pieces of grocery store shrimp. My boyfriend’s shepherd pie looked like high school cafeteria food, except it was a smaller portion. If there’s something that an Irish pub should get right, it’s alcohol. Know how to pour a Guinness. Pour beer to the top of the pint glass. Know how to serve Hot Whiskey. It’s the simple things… My boyfriend ordered a Hot Whiskey, except neither of us could taste a hint of whiskey. It was lemon water. We paid about $ 10 for lemon water. Instead of complaining, he ordered a second Hot Whiskey with a double shot, which also doubled the price. It was delicious but not worth our combined life savings. The service was great and our waitress was lovely. But her cute smile and friendly hello did not make up for the poor menu. At the end of the day customers want good drink and good grub. This place does not deliver. I think Blue Mountain should establish some sort of ground rules for its establishments. High prices should equate to high(or mediocre) quality food. I felt cheated.

Oh my. If you caught my Tip on this place when I visited it back during the Feb 8 – 10 weekend, you would have thought I loved this place. Happening Irish pub, with a great bar, at the bottom of the ski hills in the Village at Blue Mountain! Coming off the hills you’re two things: Hungry and Thirsty. While my thirst was sated by an insanely spicy Bloody Caesar(seriously the bottom ¼ was all Tabasco sauce) my hunger was left wanting as the disorganization of the staff and kitchen here sent us running else where hungry. Long story short we arrived after the lunch rush(it was still busy) and were told when we left our name at the door that it would be a 20 – 25 minute wait. So we took up at the bar and began hydrating… or dehydrating depends how you look at it really. 45 minutes later I ventured up to the host station and asked the slack jawed mule working his post what our approximate ETA was. «I don’t know… I told you 20 – 25 minutes before». Ahhh yes but that was 45 minutes ago kind sir… to which I received a roll of the eyes and a «well call you when it’s ready.» Easy tiger papa just wants a nibble no need to get so testy. Another 10 minutes go by and finally we are seated(for those of you keeping track… were now 5 minutes short of an hour). Our server comes about 10 minutes later and takes an order for more drinks. We decide on food right away at which point she tells us that the kitchen is backed up and it could be a 25 minute wait. Ohhhhh no you DINT!!! Excuse me miss — I ask — we were told 25 minute before and it turned into almost an hour wait, so when you say 25 min, do you mean actually 25 minutes orrrrrrrr MJ Byrne 25 min. She scoffed, said she didn’t know what to tell us. So we told her to cancel the drinks and went elsewhere. Hopefully that sped up the wait for one other person… but with staff like this I hardly think so. Best to wait things out over at Rusty’s or try your luck elsewhere. This place doesn’t know how to handle customers(or at least more than a couple at a time). Kudos to Kiro M and John E for telling it as it is.
