I came across Salon One Eleven in 2004 while trying to find a reasonably-priced hair and makeup place for my wedding. Not only did they do a fantastic job on our hair and makeup, but they had Timbits and mimosas waiting for us when we arrived for our appointment! Their service was so great, and their prices so reasonable, that it became my hair and manicure place of choice. Since then, a lot has changed — they no longer do aesthetics(i.e. they’re hair only), they moved locations(thanks to a developer who wanted the lot they were originally on at 111 Queen Street East), and because their new location is much smaller, there are only two stylists: the owner(Joseph) and Antonello(who happens to be the one who did my hair in 2004 and was the… Master Stylist??? I don’t know what they’re called, the most senior stylist on staff). The one thing that hasn’t changed is the service. Antonello always does a great job on my hair, and because it’s a smaller salon, I really feel like I get personal service there. If I need to change an appointment time last minute, they do their best to accommodate, even if they’re super busy. I’m definitely not one of those people that makes sure they go in every 8 weeks to have their hair trimmed and their roots touched up, and yet I still feel like Antonello knows me and what I like and don’t like, and I can completely trust him(and Joseph, for that matter) to suggest something that will look good and make sense for my lifestyle. They’re up on the latest hair trends, and yet not hoity-toity or intimidating for those of us who aren’t especially hip. Also, Joseph rides a Harley and participates in a charity bike ride every year. How cool is that? The only reason I didn’t give Salon One Eleven 5 stars is that their location is a little out of the way. When Joseph had to move the salon, he converted an outbuilding on his own personal property, which is on seven acres of land on the western edge of Brampton(Chinguacousy and Queen). It’s got a small waiting area(with coffee/tea and reading materials), a room with several sinks for washing hair, and the main cutting/styling room, which is fairly large and bright and has a stylist chair in each corner. Joseph owns sheep and a cute black lab named Harley(perhaps predictably), which makes up for the extra travel time. Caveat: Not sure they can still do wedding hair, since it’s only the two of them. Obviously that would depend on the number of people in your wedding party. And as I said above, they don’t do aesthetics anymore either, due to lack of space.
