As a student in town I enjoy getting a late night snack and nothing beats a good poutine. The service is good to poor depending on who is working. The food though is always delicious and very takes too long. The only major issue I have is the lack of Mozza sticks that come on the Mozza poutine. Other then that I would have to recommend Lonnie’s

The food was NOT tasty at all. Although I’m sure the beef was of fine quality, the corn chips were stale. Service was mediocre. It definitely is a hole in the wall. It definitely is bar food and greasy. The portions are definitely huge.

Check out the buffalo chicken poutine… Smoking«hot» is the best way to describe the dish!

I am a part of a hockey league that travels every year to Brantford for the Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament. Finding good and quick food in and around Brantford is key for our weekends going off without a hitch. Lonnie’s hit the spot for most of us over this past weekend. A number of our league members had gone down and eaten at Lonnie’s, while myself and others only ordered delivery, so my review is based on the delivery experience. We had a pretty big order, totaling out to about $ 85 Canadian. The lovely lady doing delivery showed up and we double checked the order. Somehow, both of our popcorn chicken meals didn’t show up and one was misinterpreted to mean popcorn chicken poutine. We had used the menu on Lonnie’s website to figure out our order and apparently, it’s been quite a bit since the site was updated. Our order did have to go through several changes while being placed over the phone. An update to both the menu and the website, itself, could definitely fix this issue. Although, for a big order, you have to expect a mix up somewhere. The lady took it in stride. She called back the restaurant to have the meals ready for her upon her return and didn’t even charge us for the mix up. Really awesome customer service here. Great thing about Lonnie’s is the variety of food: sandwiches, a large selection of different poutines, desserts(including ice cream), and 24-hour breakfast; just to name a few. This quintessential greasy spoon delivers, is open 24/7, and serves awesomely sized portions at prices that are a steal.

While visiting Brantford, my friends and I had a craving for breakfast in the middle of the day. A quick Unilocal search for«greasy spoon» led us to Lonnie’s: a hole-in-the-wall, 24-hour diner. It delivered exactly as promised. Expecting a bigger restaurant, a dozen of us piled in filling up the entire seating area. There were only two staff present, both young girls who took orders and cooked. The food arrived surprisingly fast for all of us, and each was piping hot. On the wall, a old car hood lists many kinds of Lonnie’s specialty poutines. I went for the Breakfast Poutine: eggs and bacon atop the standard fries, gravy, and cheese curds. They have three portion sizes: half, regular, and family. I ordered the half portion and a hot cake. A massive serving of poutine arrived, enough to fit inside a shoe box. I thought I mistakenly received a regular or family sized portion. Nope, this was the half. A regular portion easily contains six potatoes. I imagine the family size arrives in a three-gallon bucket. The hot cake, which was only $ 1.00, was about the length of a football. I repeat: it was only a dollar! I was expecting something small, the size of a beverage coaster. All of this food cost $ 12.00 with drink. Everyone in our group left stuffed and with take away boxes. Of course, poutines were the popular order, but the BLT and fried chicken sandwich looked incredible. Fresh, big, crisp: everything you want a sandwich to be. My only complaint is about the drinks. They’re canned, and no one’s soda was refrigerated. There was also no ice. C’mon, everything else is golden at this restaurant. Stepping up your drinks is an easy thing to do. Price per person: $ 12.00

Wow. This is without a doubt the greatest thing Brantford has to offer. Open 24⁄7 in the downtown core, saying«Lonnies» immediately brings everyone together in salivating poutine lust, north end yuppies and crusty rodeo patrons alike. Their menu seems to change a lot, most of it being some kind of classic grub food, but they always have a few pretty bizarre things to try. Chocolate covered bacon(or peppers), deep-fried pickles(which are apparently not so new or strange, anywhere else in the province), brownies covered in whipped cream covered in gummy worms covered in. etc. Really though the main thing to get here is the poutine; in addition to their regular variety(which comes in 3 sizes, all of which could feed your family for a month) they have about a dozen variants. Off the top of my head, there are. meatlovers, vegetarian, mexican, taco, Canadian(maple syrup and bacon), breakfast, and probably many many more by now. Seating is pretty tightly packed, they work with what they’ve got. The staff are all fairly strange(in the best kind of way) and have a pretty well enforced«No Bullshit» policy which is truly awesome to see put in practice. Great people though. Brian(the owner /manager) drove me and my poutine home through a pretty heavy storm one night at his offer. A great place run by awesome people. Aside from the poutine, some other things I grew to love before moving out of the city: Veggie Burritos — Around $ 3, absolutely massive and stuffed however you want. Chili Cheese Dog — Massive. Greasy. Cheesy. Godly. Bacon Cheese Dog — Slightly less intimidating as the above, equally as godlike. Peanut-Butter Brownie — Giant slab of brownie covered in white fondant, chocolate sauce and peanut butter. So many memories.
