Go there quite often for burgers and their BBQ meats such as pulled pork. I go there quite often and in never been disappointed. I usually go for a beef burger with bacon, cheese, jalapeños and sometimes add sautéed mushrooms, sautéed onions or fried egg. I always get Chipotle mayonnaise to go with my fries. I’ve never tried their desserts because after the burger and fries, I have no space Left for something sweet.

Smoked Chicken. It’s the best. Home made beans, macaroni salad and iced tea too, plus everything else you’d expect at a BBQ Joint. I highly recommend it, worth every penny.

The food is delicious and high quality. It is served in a short time too. The place has nice décor all over! I recommend this place for those who want burgers, sausage, and many other kinds of meat.

Great spot for BBQ! Friendly, efficient service and a clean, unassuming little spot. I’m stunned to report that when I walk in I’m greeted by name! It’s happened many times now. Delicious burgers and chicken every time, with an authentic poutine option. Parking is a little tricky but there are two lots across Hastings on Gilmore and street parking within 100 m of the storefront on either Pender or Albert. It looks a little closed off because of the big neon sign but it’s quite inviting inside. Do not be intimidated, go inside. Get in your car and get to the Heights for this BBQ! The take out packaging is thoughtfully trying not to add gobs of landfill and the food is super hot and fresh so a take out picnic farther north at a nearby park with a mountain view is my next plan for BBQ! Be sure to call ahead and check that they haven’t run out of your favourite meat as it’s all slow cooked and can run out… Never happened to me, yet but it’s possible.

I remembered coming here to celebrate my friend finishing up his exams and I was thinking of that place because I remember it was around the neighbourhood, but I never got a chance to go inside. So we ordered a BBQ Platter for $ 45.90 for 2 people. The food came out and there was 6 meats from the ribs, chicken, pulled pork, brisket, sausage and wings. We chose the fries and the coleslaw as the 2 sides we wanted for our portions. The ribs were juicy yet had some toughness in them. The chicken was juicy. Pulled Pork was sweet. Sausage was a tad bit salty. Wings were huge and brisket was very fatty. It was a great meat eating experience, but there are better options out there.

Came back and sampled chicken, brisket, pulled pork. I think the brisket is great, but probably the only thing I want to order.

Giving them a one star for service alone. I live really close by and actually love the food. I always call to make an order for pick up and on almost every occasion I am put on hold for 5 – 10 mins. Tonight I was put on hold for 17 minutes and I could hear the cash guy just talking to people the whole time. Then he just hung up the phone. Since I live so close I thought I would walk in and order. I had to wait another 5 mins for someone to talk to me. I told the guy my issue and he said«oh» and just stared at me. Needless to say I’m done with this place. Its sad because the food is good but the staff are not helpful and the obviously don’t care if you are getting an order to go.

I live closeby so decided to go there for lunch. Had brisket and wings. The portions are huge. A meal + appie filled us. The brisket was a bit dissappointing. There was fat, however, rather than being between the layers of meat such that the meat would be moist, it was on the edge which didnt really add anything. The meat was not too juicy. Did not taste any smoke. The wings were better. They were grilled which is somewhat unique. Overall a good place for a quick meal but I’d rather go to the other bbq places in town.

Felt like I was eating leftovers. Sorry but this isn’t going to be nice… Came in on a weeknight and ordered the special: two meats and sides. Chose the BBQ chicken and ribs, while the wife got the pulled pork and ribs. As I headed to the bathroom, I looked over the kitchen and noticed our meal was being reheated on the grill. Then I saw the chef walk from the back with two full racks of rib, wrapped in saran wrap and frozen… I don’t mind eating leftovers when I’m home, but if I’m paying money to eat out, at least serve me something that was made daily and fresh! I’m not paying to eat something you made 1 day, 2 day, or maybe 1 week ago! Felt like I was in an episode of Kitchen Nightmare and the big makeover hasn’t happened yet. The food ended up tasting exactly as it looked. Grilled leftovers and tasteless. BBQ chicken was actually roast chicken with grill marks, and the ribs were dry and bland. For a BBQ not to even offer BBQ sauce, you know that’s a bad sign. And why is BURGER the biggest word in the sign, but on the menu it is only featured in a tiny 3x5in section? I actually came in for a burger but hesitated because of the emphasis on BBQ in the menu. Sorry, but eat elsewhere with you money.

A great alternative to Memphis Blues, Parking is plentiful along Hastings, as well as the side streets. The inside is definitely hipster-like, with maroon instruments attached to the walls, and beaten up wooden furniture. Staff are friendly. As with most other BBQ places, the food is definitely a few bucks more. My friend and I went all out with the BBQ sampler($ 46). 6 types of meat, with fries and 2 sides. Ribs, BBQ chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket, wings/drumsticks on a skewer, and sausages. For the sides we had coleslaw and mac & cheese. Everything hit the spot. One thing I particularly like is that they went somewhat easier on the salt. Really wish more restaurants would follow this trend. We left stuffed. This thing delivers. I’ll be back at some point to try the burgers. Recommended.

This was a great experience, went a few weeks ago ! Service was friendly and the food was amazing. I had their Burger, and it was one of the best burgers i had in a long time. I do like that it is a local, independently owned restaurant, not a large franchise. Feel it is important to support the businesses in the neighborhood . I will go again for sure, possibly try a few other items i had my eye on. Diana Klejne

A few friends and I went here, the all you can drink refillable lemonade was the best country time powdered juice I’ve ever had complimented by my sausages that seemed to be seasoned with a pack of marlboro’s. Yes it actually tasted like tobacco. The ribs were dry, tough and crumbly which made me feel like a coyote picking at roadkill that was baking in the sun. I never tried the burgers but I don’t imagine they’re much better. Server was quick and polite but I won’t be returning. I’d rather keep my 20 bucks and buy McDonald’s for 2

I didn’t get to try their Burgers and yes, that seems weird when eating at a place called Burgers Etc BBQ House. I guess I decided to go with the Etc BBQ. The husband and I shared the smoked chicken platter. It was good, but I wouldn’t say the most amazing BBQ in the city. The chicken was moist and it came with fries and an additional side, which was macaroni salad for us. My favorite part was probably the fries. Crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. This place also only accepts cash so it was hard to get my beer on. *Edit, I guess it takes Debit too, but I want my points. =P

Gave this restaurant a second go. Trust me! I really want to like this place because it’s independently-owned and it’s a neighborhood joint. However, the same disappointments I felt the first round continues to my second visit. I ordered: BBQ Combo Platter($ 16.95) — Beef Ribs — Beef Brisket — Fries — Macaroni Salad(One side) Let me be clear, right off the bat, this review is strictly about their food, and not about their service. Mind you, the Asian girl that served me was quite cute and had a great smile. ;) Now that my compliment and creepiness is shoved aside, let’s get straight to it. BEEFRIBS: The Beef ribs were served in 4 individual pieces that had barely any meat on it. It was super dry, there was hardly any fat on it. Lacked a smoke ring, meat came straight off the bone with hardly any bite. It lacked smokiness, and it was quite evident that the ribs were individually grilled(and not joined together when cooked), as the ribs were served in various sizes. All in all, the worst Beef Ribs I’ve ever had. The BBQ sauce that was used as a baste was below average as well. It lacked smokiness, and complexity. BEEFBRISKET: The above description can be applied here basically. There was no smoke ring on the brisket. It was super dry. Brisket is suppose to be melt-in-your-mouth fatty, moist and flavorful. It lacked all of these components. It’s like the name of the game for this joint is to serve dry and lean meat. The worst beef brisket I’ve ever had in my life across the board in all cuisines and cooking methods. FRIES: Standard MACARONISALAD: Under-seasoned, lacked flavors, funny how the patron next to me on the other table recommended to her guests that their«macaroni salad is dynamite». I laughed inside! All in all, it was the worst BBQ(of any kind) I’ve had in my life. The theme for this joint is lean and dry. To be fair, good southern-style BBQ can hardly be found in Vancouver(and I’ve had all of the renown establishments). Even Memphis Blues BBQ is better than this place, and I think Memphis is garbage. There used to be a good BBQ shop called Boonie’s Southern Soul(best southern-style in Metro Vancouver at the time) out in Langley about 5 years ago. I would trek all the way from East Van to Langley on a bi-weekly basis just for his cooking. It was legit southern-style cooking(and that’s where he was from), but unfortunately, it has closed down. The only time that I can get decent BBQ in Vancouver is during the fair at PNE, or if you’re in Seattle, check out the Barbecue Pit in Seattle Central. Rough neighborhood, but that’s when you know it’s legit. I’m Chinese, and before you scream at me for being a racist. The dude cooking my meal was a 60 year old Chinese chef that looked he arrived yesterday from China. That’s when you know your money should be spent elsewhere.

For burger joints, this is one of the better ones in the N. Burnaby/E. Vancouver corridor. You get what you pay for, succulent, juicy beefy goodness. Standard fare comes your usual choice of sides(potato salad, French fries, macaroni salad, coleslaw, etc). Definitely not for daily dining but good when you get the carnivorous appetite. BBQ sauce is nice & tangy but nothing on the menu has that deep south spice kick which I tend to look for. They do serve alcohol which is a definite plus when eating meats. I would recommend this place for its burgers. Plus service is top notch.

I’m not too sure what to think about this place. I live a couple blocks from this place, it’s a BBQ house, and everyone I talk to keeps telling me that they’re heard of this place before and all the things they’re heard are good things. All these points should be the perfect equation to something I would like if not love. However. That’s not the case here. I find the pulled pork good, not great, the brisket is… well. good, not great, and the ribs that I’ve tried are also… not great. Pair that with a cold bun and a $ 10 price tag for a burger, I’d rather go seek out a angus burger from the golden arches.

This place used to be a favorite of ours. Very little has been done to develop the menu since they opened. The once top notch burgers come out flavorless and unseasoned, unlike when they first opened. The once perfect french fries have become skimpy, toppings on the burgers are limited and overpriced. For a place that promotes itself as a barbecue joint I have found most of it except for the pulled pork average to poor. Service can range from very good to below average. Many items are over priced and not a good value at all. They reject feedback. as all of my suggestions have gone unresponded to. We believe the owner has given up or just doesn’t care anymore… too bad :-(

I was taken here as a surprise by the guy I am dating for my Birthday. I love BBQ and trust his selection. He once again surprised me with yet another awesome find. I had the BBQ chicken fries. The meat was well marinated, tender and flavorful. My only complaint is that they drowned everything in way too much BBQ sauce that the appreciation of the chicken was almost lost on me. The customer service was the best customer service I had in a long time. They guy even watched my umbrella after warning him that I would hold the establishment responsible if some a-hole took my umbrella(kidding of course). Prices were reasonable(I didn’t pay of course, however, totally reasonably priced). Meal came out in a timely manner.

Still good. We come here every now and then. It’s a place I take people from out of town(when my parents aren’t hijacking them and taking them to the –as they say it: «Rebolbing Restoran»). I wanted to come here with one of my girlfriends to meet her new boyfriend, but she said she already brought him there and he gave it a thumbs down. Wha? Dump him… okay. maybe that’s a little rash. Maybe things have changed… no. Still good. So me and the hubby came here for dinner ourselves. Things have changed… for the better. I ordered my usual pulled pork sandwich, but now it comes with fries. Sure the price has gone up by like $ 1, but I used to have to fork out more than that to add fries anyhow. I also add a side of mayo… I didn’t order the side of pickles this time though. I’m taking it easy on the preservatives. It’s still a really good sandwich, but this time I finished it. At the meat. I left some of the bun… see, reducing my wheat intake. The staff is still the same… still nice, still happy you’re there. Someday I’ll try a burger.
