We dined at Chonqing Burnaby for the first time on June 14th. Immediately I was pleasantly surprised by the nice, modern décor and the friendly greetings from staff. Our family of 4 ordered some yummy dishes: in particular the orange peel chicken, which had a nice kick to it, and the beef and celery noodle soup. Its a smaller space but it was full. The service was excellent — very friendly and helpful. I love Asian cuisines but I’m a bit ethnocentric when it comes to my music so I was glad to hear Canadian pop was being played. I was also relieved that there was only 1 tv at the restaurant and it was out of view of our table. I’ve always heard good things about their restaurant on Commercial &12th but the number of tvs I see through the windows always put me off. When I go out to eat with friends and family, I like to focus on the conversation and not the news or sports! All in all — great food and service. We’ll be back soon!

I am more of a «I don’t know about Chinese cuisine but I know what I like» person. Went over with a couple of friends for lunch, our host made sure we got a table for 3 with no fuss. I liked the green tea, slightly minty. At other places it always seems rather bland. If it’s not supposed to be like that, blame my ignorance. We ordered the lunch specials and shared shrimp with rice, sweet & sour chicken and eggplant. My soup was an unexpectedly tasty corn chicken. Service was efficient and friendly, food was good and price fair. Will definitely come back in the near future.

I can easily taste MSG even though the waitress told me they don’t use it. I doubt that they ever wash their vegetables since some leaves are still attached to each other.

If you are looking for authentic Sichuan cuisine do Not cone here. Totalling disgusting. These are Cantonese people trying to cook something they cannot. Gross If your hot and sour soup and pan-fried dumplings which is what most people would call wor teep meaning dumplings is gross. Disgusting because they can’t even serve hot & sour soup that tastes close to the original. Better off go few blocks down to a real Shangai restaurant serving proper and decent food. U can’t believe people eat here. Hello?

Forget it. Visit the new location in Surrey. Not sure how the one in downtown fairs, but the service and food here is sub par. Any how, for those that do not know, this is hardly authentic chinese food. It is your typical western(caucasian) chinese food. That’s why you won’t see to many Asians dining here even though it’s in Burnaby. Some may say this place was renovated? I say, it doesn’t look like it. It looks cheap but kinda of modern. Staff very stingy with napkins/paper towels. Dishes are typically much greasier and with more marinade than the Surrey location. This tells me that the food is likely not fresh and the chef/owners are hiding something by adding a lot of sauce. Not recommended. There are many other [better] Chinese places to eat in Burnaby.

We had a group of 10. Can’t find place for dimsum. So we came here. I was thinking of the Chongqing on West Broadway has dimsum. Very happy with our choices. We ordered too much dishes… all excellent especially the steam dumplings and pan fried dumplings.

First time coming to this place and it was amazing! Customer service was on point and the food was to the tee! We ordered the crispy rice with vegetables, peking duck(half size), soup dumplings and chow mein which came to 60. it was a decent total. i would come here again

Love the hot and sour soup, fried rice and ginger chicken. Most if the food is good. A little disappointment when I was last there… we order the Peking duck(2 courses) duck wrap and lettuce wrap. I’ve had this before and it was lovely… but this last time it tasted a little off. I have excellent taste buds and I could taste it, now mind you a normal person probably would not have taste it(my daughter didn’t) but I did and we felt it the next day. I was tempted to send it back a few times but I didn’t. I guess follow your senses.

We used to be a regular delivery customer from this restaurant, after a few bad experiences with very late delivery, wrong order and undercooked food, we stopped ordering from this place for a while. After a few months, we decided to give it a try again. We ordered the delivery and wasn’t informed how long it would take. From the past experiences, we expected to be around 50 mins. Called after 50 mins, the manager told us the driver had left and on the way, so waited 20 more mins and called back, the manager told us we should get our food soon. I questioned why we weren’t informed that we need to wait more than an hour, he said they only have one driver for the whole delivery, and the driver had multiple places to go to prior to our deliver. Also they had to hold the order cause the driver was out for a while. I told the manager this wasn’t the first time with the late delivery issue which was the reason why we didn’t order for a while. The manager responded that they only have one driver, and the driver don’t just deliver one place, so next time I should consider pick up instead. Well, we are sure we will pick up our food somewhere else.

First of all the service was amazing. Lee took great care of us. The entire staff was very accommodating. The won ton soup was the best I have ever had.(I live on orange County CA) and nothing compares. Full of flavor and the noodles were not thick and doughy. The shrimp fried rice was very good. Again very flavorful and full of shrimp. The Singapore noodles were very spicy but full of meat and veggies. The entire meal totaled half what we would pay in CA. I WOULDRECOMENDTOEVERYONETRAVELTOBC.

Had dinner here with a friend as we just randomly found this place along Kingsway. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted and seated immediately. It was not busy at all when we went. In fact, we were the only ones there along with one other small group. Food came in pretty quickly. I ordered the cantonese lemon chicken w/a bowl of rice, and my friend ordered some noodle soup. They give generous amounts of food, which can easily be shared between two people. Food was nice and tasty but it was nothing special. Service seemed friendly at first, but quickly became bitter when it was time to pay the bill. Though it was not busy at all, the server only came out two times during our 30 minute stay. She made it almost impossible for us to just get some water and a fork. And when I finally asked for water, she totally forgot to bring them so I had to remind her. And the fork that I asked for? She gave me a butter knife. Umm, yeah. In the end, we were ready to leave after paying, when the server came to our table and looked at our receipt. Her fake smile quickly wore off as she asked us «so this total does not have tip?». And we said no, then she asked us why not. Aside from us not having extra cash at the moment, she did make herself quite unavailable to provide attentive service. She then continued saying«because I dont have that much money». She made us feel VERY uncomfortable and what she was saying was extremely unprofessional and just plain rude. I understand that servers need tips but not everyone has the luxury of tipping every-single-restaurant they go to. What more to a restaurant with poor service? I usually tip based on food quality and service and the latter was definitely lacking. To us, this was a HUGE turn-off. Unless you want servers shamelessly ASKING and expecting tips from you, I suggest you eat elsewhere.

I don’t eat anything but fried rice from there. Their fried rice is cooked very well and is a must try. Big portions too. Minimum order for delivery is only $ 18 and online delivery is free of charge.(They charge you $ 1 if you call them in, though) Nothing as good as some satisfying Chinese delivery when you’re so medicated and hungry.

Ordered Hot and Sour soup and Lettuce Wrap with Chicken, and only liked Lettuce Wrap it was yummy and delicious. As for Hot and Sour soup, it tasted overpowering and spicy in my opinion. It was different from usual Hot and Sour soup I’ve ever had.

Nothing super wrong here… just was missing something. Flavors were muted… just not what I was hoping for from reviews. Probably shouldn’t affect things but I did delivery, not in restaurant. We ordered pork spring rolls. they were ok. A little greasy… but ok. Ginger beef… quite spicy from ginger. not too bad(not the best I’ve had though)… mixed vegetable chow mein. bland, veggies a little soft, and bbq pork fried rice… Probably my fav of all the food. Probably won’t be in a hurry to order again.

I used to drive pass this location when it was Chinese restaurant called Hing Loong with a massive red take out box sign, and then it became a bubble tea place. After all the changes over a span of over two decades, I decided to try out Chongqing in Burnaby since my mom wanted to try out this restaurant for her birthday. The interior isn’t like a typical Chinese restaurant in Vancouver, but it feels like a small diner. The food arrived quickly and the servers were polite and friendly. The food tasted a bit Westernized, especially the honey garlic beef and sweet and sour fish. I do think they should have added less salt for their dishes, especially the honey garlic beef. Do note that one can order ½ sized orders or full sized orders for some of the dishes. Decent Chinese food, and those who like some of their slightly Westernized dishes should like this restaurant.
