I bought a Groupon for this place but didn’t bother to research it first. BIGMISTAKE! I have read all the reviews and wonder how on earth a place like this can remain open. Shame on the owners… Shame in the management. In the end, I walked out without even trying the floatation tank. I was willing to lose the value of the Groupon. I choose my health first. Warning. Don’t go here.

Not thrilled. Stepping into the space it felt like it wasn’t properly ventilated due to the condensation on the windows. It was steamy in a bad way. The staff member who greeted me was friendly and welcoming — certainly nothing bad to say about the customer service, just the actual space. The waiting room has one too many chairs, and the white board wall with random nonsensical quotes written on it was tacky. It felt cramped — a theme that pervaded throughout the entire space. The room with the float tank is not nice(and I’m a pretty euphemistic person). It was dim so I could only see the big pod with murky looking water. There was a little cart with towels, q-tips, and ear plugs, and a couple hooks on the walls for clothes and my purse. The room felt cramped and could use a paint job. My actual floating experience was interesting and not at all bad… except I managed to rotate inside the tank, got disoriented and tried to push the top open not knowing I was at the back! I wound up getting out of the tank about 10 minutes before the session was over. There is a shower in the room with complimentary shampoo/conditioner. I was offered a hairdryer but I didn’t feel like hogging the one little bathroom they have. Side note: I missed the memo on not drinking coffee beforehand… I have also felt sleepy all day even though the float was several hours ago. I suggest floating late in the evening then going home to a chill night or straight to bed. The staff member enthusiastically asked about my experience, and genuinely cared about my response. I appreciated her effort. Overall, this business needs to step up their game with some décor and ambiance improvements. I thought it would feel more like a spa or upscale yoga studio and it certainly did not.

Very friendly staff person, who did a good job. The room felt too hot, and I found it hard to breathe with the pod closed, so opened it. It was still not easy to breathe, but it was better. I never figured out how to switch the light off in the pod, and even with the ear plugs I could hear traffic and the voices of people in the entrance. The noodle was too short for holding up my neck, so I had to keep adjusting it, or holding it in place by bending my neck. I kept bumping(gently) into the walls. I am overweight and my butt kept touching the bottom. I wish there had been a hair dryer, and more than one towel. With the bumping, the noodle problem, and the musty breathing problem, it took me forever to actually relax. When I finally felt relaxed it was time to leave. I think the noodle needs to be about 3 or 4 inches longer. I used the floor mat to dry the rest of the floor afterwards, and it was filthy when I picked it up. I hope owner will become obsessive about cleaning inbetween floats and explain on a FAQ how cleaning is done.

If I could describe this place in one word, it would be grimy. While the entrance area didn’t seem too unsanitary(dimly lit, so you can’t tell for sure) inside the room and the tank was disgusting. The pump has gotten worse since pictures #4 and 5 on this Unilocal page for float free were taken in Feb. and there clearly hasn’t been anything done about it. Inside the tank every seam in the design is visibly dirty and the edge that you use to hold onto as you get into the tank is covered in salt residue. It felt gross floating in the noticeably smelly tank(chlorine smell?) and there wasn’t even anywhere to hang a face towel(none in the room by the way) to wipe your face without getting salt in your eyes. I can’t imagine a float spa could get any worse than this. Get real.

i have floated at 6 different places and this was by far the worst(actually, all the other places were perfect). i had the pod, which was NOT a sensory deprivation tank. i could hear loud trucks on Hastings, i could hear banging coming from somewhere in the building, and i could hear the motor or heater or whatever come on every 5 – 10 minutes. all i could smell the entire time i was in there was urine, and the pod doesn’t close enough to shut out the light in the room, so i could see a halo of light the entire time. there was no robe provided in case i needed to go to the bathroom while i was in my session, the shower was cold for most of my shower, the vaseline they had was one big tub so you have to dig in with everyone else who has used it, there wasn’t a table to put my stuff, just hooks and in the pod it wasn’t climate controlled, so my top half was chili compared to the parts underwater. the urine smell almost made me leave so it was very hard to enjoy a relaxing time. i would call this a ghetto-float. don’t let this discourage you from floating. Other places give you the actually sensory deprivation experience, which in my opinion, is the whole point of floating. also, not worrying about catching some disease makes your time enjoyable. i had a groupon, and all my other groupons for float tanks were for 75 or 90 minutes, this was was the same price for 60 minutes. the woman at the counter seemed nice, however.

My hubby and I received a Groupon for Christmas which was for a 60 minute float in a sensory deprivation pod. We called and reserved our spot and the conversation on the phone was good. I was told what to bring, not to drink coffee beforehand and to arrive 15 minutes earlier than our session. Excitement at this point. When we arrived at the dimly lit, spa-like foyer, there was a wet haired customer in slippers asking for a refund. She was quite upset and explained that she’d had a cold shower and that the water in her pod was dirty. Excitement dwindling. The employee handled herself very well and said that the upset customer could email the owner and ask for a refund but that she didn’t have the power to give her any money back. This wasn’t the best introduction to our experience but I’m always openminded and wasn’t judging just yet. The upset customer left and we were told that they were having hot water issues. We were brought to the rooms and shown that the showers were lukewarm. We were then given the option of coming back or braving the not so hot water. As we live in Australia and are only visiting for Christmas, my husband chose to experience the float and have a lukewarm shower afterwards, his flight was the next day. I had a later return date and opted to come back when the hot water was working. I went and sat in the café across the street while he floated. Hubs said it was an interesting thing to do but that he kept bumping into the walls of the pod. As we left, the staff member apologized for the lack of hot water and gave us a free float card. I came back a few weeks later with my sister and had a good experience. The pods are space agey looking and the hot water was working. You’re in a room with a pod, shower and little stand with ear plugs, Q-tips, vaseline and a small pool noodle on it. The ear plugs are obvious, the q-tips and vaseline are for any cuts you have as the salt water will sting and the pool noodle is to steady yourself in the pod. The actual float is super relaxing and after a few minutes, I felt like I was floating on the top of a pool, even though I was only in a few inches of water. Quite weird! As for some of the hygiene issues, the pods work like a pool. The water is not flushed after every use. Plus, there’s so much salt in the water that it’s probably much more sterile than an actual pool. Just ask for the full run down of the system if you’re worried. They’re happy to tell you. I’d go back!

Hey, it could have been better, could have been worse. I got a very warm welcome when i arrived. I was 40 mins early and she said it was okay and that she could fit me in(although i think i was the only one there…) and she took me to my room and explained everything really well. Got to be honest, i think the salt water in the pod smelt like bad foot odour… i don’t know if it’s just the natural smell of the salts(hope so but doubtful)… The experience itself was fine. It’s a shame, though, that the room looked a bit undone. The socket on the wall was hanging out and the shower’s handle to turn it on was also hanging loose. I mean, come on, people are paying a lot to float in water for an hour, so they could at least make sure that everything is attached to the walls and fitted/finished. Not to mention that they weren’t exactly busy and i could have been given another room with a better shower. Anyway, wont come back but thanks for the average experience.

This was my first float experience ever. My personal experience overall with this place was not great. Did some research and had an idea what to expect but my personal experience was a bit different. I wouldnt say I’m picky or a neat freak at all, my wife would attest to that, but first thing I noticed was the salt build up around the rim of the tank and all over the floor and generally everywhere. Everything also felt kind of slimy. I got into the shower and the shower handle was broken. The float experience was ok but I could see light coming from a gap in the pod somewhere and I could hear and feel cars driving by and people talking. The staff told me that when the time was over music would play and that’s how I would know when to get out. Music did not play. Instead a jet of water woke me up from my peace and shot a tsunami of water into my eyes and into my nose and mouth. My eyes burning and coughing from breathing in that nasty water I was panicking to find the light. I was so pissed. Then I get into the shower and no hot water. So I had to get a cold shower after floating in a warm tub for an hour. Not exactly relaxing at all. I liked floating but this place really needs to work on cleanliness, fixing things that are broken, and getting hot water. I wont go back here unless they do something about these issues, but I did enjoy the float and would like to try a different place. My one nice thing I should say is that the staff was friendly.

I was really excited for my first float/sensory deprivation experience. Upon arrival, I could see the space was pretty dirty and the building definitely needs some upkeep, but didn’t think too much of it. That is, until I got into the very, very dirty dream pod. It’s clear that the pod hadn’t been wiped down. There were layers of caked on salt, other people’s pubes floating in the water, and the whole time I couldn’t help but notice the smell of unwashed hockey gear, which permeated through my whole experience. I wasn’t sure if it was the salt water solution. I guess I was expecting it to be more of a spa experience. It definitely was not. The showers are also unkempt and the towels definitely ratty. At the end of the experience, I went to pay and found it baffling that there was a tip option. I did tip, but I found it strange since it’s not like getting a haircut or a massage… I’m not sure if I’ll try sensory deprivation again but definitely not here.

Not hygienic. So filthy I could not enjoy my float because I couldn’t stop thinking about the water being dirty. Will not return and would not recommend.

This is my second float experience. To start, when we arrived at float free, we were greeted by the owner. She was nice, but only gave us a very brief introduction, it was clear she wanted to get back to her computer. It was okay for myself and my husband who had done this before, but for my friend who had never done it before, I feel she could have given a more detailed explanation. We were asked to put on a pair of slippers, and it was clear they were used. The bottoms were stained and a bit wet when I put them on. This was the first turn off. We walked into our rooms and I started getting ready. They had two ratty towels that covered the floor, and she had no extra clean towels in the room or offered us one. I also started noticing how dirty the room was. The corners of the floor had an old ear plug that someone had clearly used and thrown away. It was clear that the room hadn’t been given a clean between visits… so gross! In the shower, they had soap dispensers and when you looked inside, it was disgusting, there was old shampoo caked on the bottom and stuff floating inside. The shower door was also broken. The pod was a modern dream pod. As I got in, the pod had a yellow stain around the pod, this made it even more difficult now for me to enjoy my experience because at this point I was so disgusted. I lasted about 15mins and decided to get out. The sides of the pod was covered in a layer of old salt. As this was my second experience, I know that other pods don’t have the layer of salt if they are cleaned regularly. Keep in mind this place has only been opened for 2 months. Other parts of float free were also in need to repair. There was a giant hole in the ceiling of their washroom. She had a noodle a available for those who wanted some neck support, but it was caked in salt. The towels she had were stained and old, and I questioned whether the robe had been washed. So, coming from a float place that was clean, hygienic, and had an owner that really cared about your experience, this was a really bad experience for me. I wouldn’t recommend it, even at the discounted rate. I talked to the owner about my concerns at the end, she did not seem interested in our critic. Don’t waste your money, I would try another float place.
