Very good food for a decent value. Ingredients are super fresh and high quality. Cooked quickly and portions are good Highly recommended

I really wanted to like this place. Nice service, amazing menu. We ordered some simple dishes. The only ones I found palatable were the deep fried prawns and the wor wonton soup. Actually, the prawn meat was almost tasteless except for a slightly muddy flavour. The rest were just horrid. Ginger beef tasted like it was smothered in hp sauce. I did not taste ginger. The Szechuan bean and eggplant were also smothered in a not-pleasing brown sauce. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I just don’t like Szechuan. The fried rice was so fat laden I couldn’t eat that either. Did I complain? Why bother. As in a previous review of this place by someone else, and my experience in other Asian restaurants, the customers voice is rarely given any value.

Food is pretty tasty except it is highly priced for the quality of the dishes. The chow mein is mainly noodles with a few slices of pork. The cashew shrimp dish doesn’t come with cashews, apparently, but you will get as much cheap celery as you want. And you might as well just get veggie rice because you won’t really get pork in the pork fried rice. And for $ 6.50, you can enjoy a single serve wonton soup. That small soup feeds 4 people? wow. Also, I advise calling in your order because they charge you more per item for using their website. Get with the 21st century people because it shouldn’t cost $ 5 more to use your website. You also don’t get their freebies if you order online when you buy over $ 39.

My go to when I am in the area for Chinese food. I really enjoy their food I would deffinately reccomend it. The décor inside is a little bit old and outdated but the quality of the food is great and they are very friendly!

This is probably some of the best Chinese food I have ever had! Everything was fresh, flavorful and they even make their own noodles. If you live in Burnaby, you owe it to yourself to eat here.

Somewhat of a new restaurant in the area and the other szechuan place had a power outage so we gave this one a try. Server was curteous, but dishes took a LOT of time to come out. Cumin lamb was good, a decent quantity of lamb and enough cumin taste. Double cooked pork belly didnt have enough pork, you had to look for the pieces of pork(see photo). But it was quite good, crispy skin, adequate taste. Dishes were reasonably large though mostly vegetables. Sounds like 4* so far. The last dish was quite the shock(in a bad way). We had szechuan spicy chicken. Here’s a photo. The chicken pieces were very small, looking like KFC popcorn chicken, but it had small pieces of bones! We were wondering if it was just a bunch of smashed up battered bones and skin, stirred with way way too much salt. The chilis that came with it were typical szechuan. I’m wondering if it should be considered a hazard to finish this much salt by yourself. Since it’s a newish restaurant, I’d be willing to give it another shot one day once my blood salt level comes back to normal. The place has potential but we feel they could focus more on basic Szechuan dishes(anybody ever had szechuan popcorn chicken bones???) and not cut corners on the amount of meat.

Ate here recently with a couple of friends and was very disappointed with both the food and the service. Ordered some BBQ pork and rice, and some chow mein and it was all practically inedible. The rice was clumpy and the pork was either gristly or tasted like it was just a ball of batter, and was swimming in a sauce that tasted like it had three times the amount of sugar and msg needed. I’m talking instant tummy upset. The chow mein(when it finally came) was practically cold and all noodle… almost no meat or veggies to be seen, and was super greasy. I’m not usually one to complain or send food back, but I was so unimpressed by what was served to me that on this occasion I(politely) did. They were incredibly rude to me for voicing my displeasure and became instantly huffy, loud and defensive. I finally just gave up on trying to reason with them, paid my bill and vowed never to eat here again. Any restaurant that thinks it’s ok to serve sub-par food and literally yell at you for daring to challenge them, shouldn’t even be allowed to operate. I will not eat at lucky star again and would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and go eat anywhere else.

I couldn’t recommend this place more, I’ve only eaten at the restaurant once but I order in quite often. Everything I’ve tried has been amazing the house chow mein is a go to as well as the cumin lamb — the lamb has a bit of bite to it which is amazing. Also if your order is $ 30.00 or more you get free pop or spring rolls; always get the spring rolls, they are great. The only downfall is at times delivery times have been as long as an hour and a half but it typically takes about 45 mins. With that said, it’s completely worth the wait, the food is really THAT good.

Along East Hastings Street between Clark Drive, Vancouver and Duncan Ave in Burnaby(about 10 km), there are many eateries and small restaurants on both side. This is one of those; I drove by Lucky Star and got attracted by the Chinese name(meaning New Hongkong Macau café). I thought it is a HK style café, then found out it is a Szechuan style restaurant when I sat down. Oh well, might as well give it a try. I was not disappointed! The service is very good, I like the clean cups & plates, food is tasty, portion is huge(we have stuff left over for doggie bag with only 2 dishes). It was a very nice dining experience. The highlight: instead of fortune cookies, we’re served with complimentary real fruit dessert :)*
