Good pasta on Tuesday. A friend of mine told me about Pasta Tuesday. So after movie, decided to search on Unilocal and yes my friend was right about Pasta Tuesday. $ 12 for any pasta dish. You can’t beat that. So I got the smoke salmon and the short rib pasta. The short rib one had so much flavor in them. Its everywhere. Whereas the smoke salmon is a bit bland. So décor is way different at this Trattoria compared to other. Its less fancy. Tables are quite long. Service is on auto pilot mode. Its very routine. Not welcoming but they are friendly. pasta come out pretty quick. It seems like premade. I order and ate and I finish and ready to go within 50 mins.

Two stars for the ingredients. First of, the table was full of cheese when i sat down. My pasta came with my salad, the pasta was just warm. Both were under expectation.

I gave 4 out 5 stars because the bartender was not really friendly. After 2 glasses of wine later, I had to ask for water. Other than that, I order the Smoked Salmon Radiatori because my 1st choice was not available on the menu. It’s Friday night and they have what I want. Kind of disappointed but the Radiatori was really good. I don’t know if I want to come back here! You decide.

My car is suddenly iffy today, so I didn’t want to go too far for my Bday dinner. Trattoria Burnaby is the one I could think as one of decent near me. And, it is Pasta Tuesday and also glowbal group emailed me complementary dessert for bday. As usual, we ordered Truffled pasta with meatball… so good. It has to be truffle. :). I had Torta al Cioccolato al Latte for dessert and it was great; round, good quality chocolate, and hazelnut flavored sauce on the side. My love sang Happy birthday song for me in front of candle lighted dessert. Purr~fect. *Parking isn’t very convenient here, but one good thing of Trattoria Burnaby location is that they open till midnight.

What a sh#t show! We called 2 weeks in advance and they were booked for reservations, but were taking walk ins. When we got there we were quoted a time of 20 minutes. So obviously we decided to wait. That was at 6:15…we were seated at 7:10. We checked with the host numerous times and he kept saying we were next. I felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld. The service is severely lacking. Our waiter was great, however the rest of the staff was not. The host chewed out one of the servers right next to our table for leaving something in the wrong area. The bar was so jammed that we waited 15 minutes for our drinks from the time that we ordered them. I was really surprised by this as they had two private parties in that night, and would have thought that they would have added extra staff. The man working the pass(we were seated right by the kitchen) was such a diva with the servers. Rolling his eyes and yelling at the them. At one point he yelled at the kitchen staff for having too many dishes at the pass. How dare they get the food out in a timely manner! It was entertaining to say the least. When our food did arrive it was average at best. I have had better Italian food cooked in Italian homes. The sauces were overly salty, and the pasta was either well under cooked or over cooked. I love the West 4th location of Trattoria, and most of the other Glowbal Group restaurants. I would suggest not judging their company on this location.

Came here for an impromptu date night with my boy and overall it was a pretty good experience. We put our name down and got seated about half an hour. Not too bad of a wait considering we went in at a fairly busy time(around 7:00pm?). The interior is super nice. Super fun but intimate atmosphere in an upscale environment. Small and homey restaurants are always great for good food but sometimes places like this are nice for that extra lil something. I got the pasta with mushrooms, oregano cream, and pancetta. I don’t remember the name but it was second on the list of $ 12 pastas. It was just OK. I didn’t like the spiralled linguine. I felt like it was a little undercooked, plus it was not very warm when I received my plate. The oregano cream and the mushrooms sounded delicious but they didn’t taste super good together? Not enough meshing. Boyfriend got the pasta with prawns and tomato sauce. He was super satisfied. As for drinks, we got the limoncello and the grapefruit cosmo. Both were just OK. I’ve had better… I regret not getting the Pineapple Express. I don’t know what it tastes like but it sounds delicious LOL Anyways, will be coming back on Tuesdays but only on Tuesdays…

Been there in a rainy evening. Cool ambient, kinda of noisy. There was a staff door near us that kept being slammed. The chicken parmigiana isnt the traditional one, it’s a kinda of reinvention. It’s good, but I’d stick with the traditional one. It had fennel, arugula, tomato salad, and the chicken fillets were breaded with light tomato sauce and a bit of fresh mozzarella on top. Also had their eggplant as an appetizer, it was also OK, not worth the price given the portion size. The dessert though was beautifully plated. The best tiramissu I’ve ever had. Not too sweet, not too fatty. Just right. Great pastry chef. I’d go back, but only if I’m not extremely hungry.

Trattoria is considered as a high end restaurant comparing to White Spot, Boston Pizza and others. I did have higher expectations before I visited Trattoria. The result is that Trattoria did not disappoint me :) The restaurant located inside Element Hotel on Kingsway in Burnaby has an underground parking on P3. It is pay parking but it is only $ 2 per hour. It is cheaper than parking in Vancouver or downtown Vancouver. The restaurant has a great service. Our server called Jennifer P. took great care of our table. She served us water and coffee to start with. She introduced us the specials of the day. We went there for brunch on the weekend, so we picked a dish of crab, lobster and prawn omelette, linguine carbonara and prosciutto pizza. Everything tasted great. Pricing was about right. I would not consider expensive as Trattoria is kind of high end with great service. You pay for what you get. I did not give five stars to this restaurant because of a couple minor things. If they did not miss these minor things, everything would be perfect. When I got to the table and I was going to put down my purse and sit down, there was a big piece of bread and crumbs on the seat. Obviously the server was careless who cleaned the table pushed the food onto the seats that he/she didn’t see or know. Another minor thing was that I ordered a prosciutto pizza. The pizza was slices into four big pieces but the pizza was quite big. I had to use a(normal) knife to slice the pizza into eight pieces. I thought the restaurant only sliced the pizza into four pieces on purpose. I could have asked my server to bring the pizza back to the kitchen and slice it for me, but I did not bother doing so. The prosciutto di parma was hard to be cut. I would love to visit Trattoria for dinner one day. It is good for a group of friends who can sit and chit chat for brunch, lunch or dinner.

Ordered some daily special pizza for brunch. I didn’t realize they served me the wrong one until I was tasting Mozzarella cheese, not the Asiago cheese. The waitress apologized and promptly got me the one I ordered. I was glad that she changed it for me since the first pizza I had was ridiculously salty that I couldn’t take it at all. It was a simple tomato base ham & potato with mozzarella — but somehow very salty. The one I got was also salty — it had bacons, spinach, artichoke and Asiago cheese. Maybe the combination of bacons and Asiago cheese contributed this pizza too salty for my liking. I still liked the spinach that blended well with the rest of ingredients. Oh I almost forgot to mention about their amazingly tasty bread pudding. The bread pudding was very soft and moist on the inside, and it was baked with lots of healthy nuts. I loved their housemate dipping sauce which was whipping cream mixed with dark chocolate chips, espresso and something else I can’t remember right now. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Anyways, the combination of the two was amazing! I loved this complementary bread more than the main dish. Ambience 4.0÷5.0 Service 4.0÷5.0 Food: Somewhere between 2.5−3. Gotta try more to tell.

In Mid August. We tried to call to call in the make a reservation — and it took 3 times to call in because the staff kept hanging up on us. When we got through only to be told that around 6:30 — they don’t like to take reservations because the place is too busy and the wait can be 20mins. So scrapped making a reservation and we left our place a little earlier around 5:45 to go eat and we were seated right away by the large windows. At 6:30, the place was not all that filled, and although there was a line of people waiting. The wait was probably not 20 mins. Although the server was trying his best and checked up on us a couple of times. We noticed the Appetizer was forgotten and our meal came before the Appe. We had to remind the waiter of our order and he went to check up on it’s status. A number of flies and fruit flies concerned me as they buzzed around us. Although I am right next to the bar(where the fruits are cut and left on the uncovered tray to make drinks) I thought a little bit of food safe violations. I sat there as a notice the bartender simply making drinks now and then and then cleaning glasses… I secretly in my mind was asking for him to cover the cut fruits, just place that clear case on top… COMEON. It never happened the whole time I sat there for 30 – 40 mins. My dish was great… I ordered the Crab, Lobster & Shrimp Cannelloni and it was delicious and a huge portion! I would totally recommend it! The Veal Parmigiana … no so much. The portion is not as great, my beau had to order something else to fill him so he ordered some Penne. The order came out pretty fast and I was surprised but not that surprised when I found It was undercooked! I came here to eat and celebrate my 4 year anniversary with my beau to find… this meal was one to tragically forget. Happy Anniversary TOUS :( PS. I had a pretty good drink though from the bartender that didn’t cover the fruits. I just don’t remember the name of the drink.

Excellent service. My bf took me here for a saturday date night and was impressed with the service. Our main server was Daniel, although, we had quite a rotation of servers the whole time we were there(I figured maybe because it was a bit slow and they had staff that weren’t waiting on any tables, my guess.) We ordered the Burrata & Pancetta for appy and it was the . I just hope there were more per serving because it looked like they were samples. I had something with chicken in it for entrée and my bf had the gnocchi. Food was ok, nothing really special(lost one star) but i do have high standards for italian food. Still, the aperol spritz became one of my fave drink. When we were paying our bill, there seemed to be a problem with the machine so my bf had to do it again. When we got home, he noticed the he got charged twice. He called to notify the manager and the manager said that they would get back to him in a few hours. Few hours later my bf didn’t hear anything from them so he had to call again, twice. First, was when the manager picked up again and told him that he’s checkin on it and that he’ll call him back AGAIN. Second, was when a girl picked up. She was really nice and immediately apologized and told my bf the same thing, that she’s going to check on it and call him back again but maybe tomorrow because the manager had actually left -.-(lost a star again). Overall, i would still recommend :) The incident was probably one in a mil. Maybe just pay in cash? LOL.

Normally Tuesday is the day that I would come for their pasta coz it is Trattoria Tuesday, all pastas were $ 11 only. Last night after the movie in SilverCity Metropolis, we came for dinner again. My friend was excited to see there’s new pasta menu posted outside the restaurant while we wait to get in, then she got disappointed when we were placing our orders, simply because there are 2 pasta menus, one for regular weekdays(more choices & more flavor I suppose) the other one for Trattoria Tuesday. I can live with that since I don’t really care about the menu, as long as it feeds me is okay; but you know women take everything into account, and it’s gonna be a sour taste for awhile… Quite frankly, I think it would be more ethical if Trattoria can run business like Charlie’s on Main($ 10 on ALL pasta Tue) or Ciao Bella in downtown(50% off on ALL pasta, Mon & Tue) or Jimoco in Coquitlam(2 for 1 everyday). And it is choice we have to make. I could have given Trattoria 4 stars since their service & food is very good, but I took away one coz it is really too noisy. Way worse than I went for Chinese dimsum on Sunday morning…

–this is a fairly nice place so no flip flops or wifebeaters. Also is quite loud so remember to speak up! Although the it’s supposed to be very authentic Italian restaurant, atmosphere does not necessarily match –service is impeccable. Everyone is so attentive and considerate. My dad accidentally spilled a drink and in no time it was taken care of — no big deal. He also got a replacement for the drink. –beef lasagna is actually small portioned and it’s more of a messy type of lasagna, not much structure. Not a negative– to each their own but lacking in flavor. –pizzas are very professional and authentic looking. They have a pizza oven! –the platter gives you different tastes of Italy, good samplers. –virgin cocktails are really good and very well infused.

I think this place is a little overpriced. I ordered the Beef Lasagna and I thought it lacked flavour. My friend had the Linguine Pesto and it was better than the lasagna. I will get that the next time I come here. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either, with the exception of the Italian doughnuts on their dessert menu. It was heavenly. I would really go back here just for the doughnuts!

Glowbal group have expanded to Burnaby area now. Trattoria opened in the Element Tower few months ago. We made the rsvn for brunch on Sunday and they were not busy at all! As a regular customer at Glowbal Chain restaurants, I would quite surprise of it. The brunch menu pretty simple and we ordered what we wanted. Anna’s Salad — chicken salad was good and fresh. The portion quite generous Crab, lobster, and prawn omelette — it was a bit greasy and soaky inside. Meatballs spaghetti — Meatballs were moist and tasty Our waitress was attentive, she kept refilling my coffee and gave us a pot of hot water. Overall, the food very standard and the prices are a bit cheaper than downtown location.

Solid 3.5 overall, in terms of action, décor, ambience, even better customer service as to be expected with the infamous Glowbal Group. Just opened about a month ago, this is one of their nicest setups yet, high ceilings, trendy all around. I’m sure the rest of the menu is worth checking out as I don’t recommend the breaded veal panini… while there was a nice texture to the meat, the ciabatta bun way too dry and thick, a constant battle lol. I mentioned this to the server, and she genuinely felt bad. Good service all around, professional. But what a generous portion of arugula, as per pic. Business meeting: only until after the lunch rush is over at 1pm. It’s loud as heck in here, a bit echoey, different from a pub but we had to constantly yell to make sure others could hear us. Private room available too, maybe that’s what it’s for. Amex, of course.

I went to see a movie on Saturday night with some friends(Spy). After the movie we went to Trattoria to grab a bite. I think this place is like an Italian Kitchen… I’m usually on a low carb diet, but I thought well… it’s once in a blue moon. Let’s go all out and really carb out! In total there were 4 of us and we shared an appetizer: the Bruschetta Sampler Trio. It’s kind of a bready pizza crusty thing with three toppings. tomato & basil, wild mushroom & cannellini bean, and chickpeas & lemon. It was alright… I have to say after trying all three of them the flavours kind of mixed together. I couldn’t tell one from another! Three of us wanted to get a good idea of what this place was about, so we ordered probably their most popular dish the Pasta Platter. The pasta platter comes with 4 different kinds of pasta: truffled spaghetti & signature meatballs, cavatappi pollo, penne pomadoro, lamb pappardelle. Again it was alright… you get a lot of food pasta for $ 20.00 and I left pretty full. I guess all I can say is these types of box restaurants are all about the same to me! If you care to notice I don’t write any reviews for Starbucks, McDonalds, KFC and the like. To me they are all the same. I’m sure individual incidents can occur within these places, but as a whole the food and drinks are pretty much the same. This place is ok… but I consider it a box restaurant… nothing too special nothing too bad… so so.

Services was extremely slow. Ran out of ravioli at 5:30pm. No beer on tap. Portion was big… Meat ball spaghetti was tasty. They charge extra cost for plate splitting. Brick oven for pizza. Nothing special for seafood dish. Not very fresh and can have more seasonings. Nothing special will bring us back. I would go to Italian kitchen instead.

Their Zeppole(donuts)… As I bit into this pastry, a gush of hot brown ooze quickly filled my oral orifice and left my lips covered in a layer of white substance. Oh god, fill me up. The former being dark chocolate and latter being powered sugar, of course. Setting: Seated next to us was a couple out on their first date. They were barely talking and hte lady was bored out of her mind while playing with her phone. The place WAS extremely loud but that shouldn’t be an excuse for him bombing so hard. He totally didn’t score. Anyhoo, the setting in general can be summed up in one word: chic. The general vibe I got was Trattoria was very much a hip young people’s kind of place. The noise level is on par with a bar so don’t expect to have a proper conversation unless you yell. Food: The food quality was uneven. Our starter was an overpriced plate of bruratta cheese and mushrooms on french bread(2⁄5). The pasta entrees were well cooked and seasoned although a little small in portion. I couldn’t help but feel that it tasted a little generic(almost microwave-dinner-ish) but still not bad to say the least(3⁄5). What really rocked was the dessert we had: freshly fried donuts filled with an ooze of moderately sweet dark chocolate and topped with a combo of hazelnut/white chocolate sauce and powered sugar(5⁄5). Conclusion: For the dessert alone, I’m giving a high score despite the disruptive ambiance. 4 stars ****

Pasta, pasta, pasta. This is a fun place to come for dinner. The energy is lively and the food is good. Try their sampler anti-pasta and pasta plates. Simon our waiter was quite attentive and friendly and def made our dining experience better.
