The Argyle St Grill

Nope… not again. The first time we ate here was because we had seen it featured on TV… there were others that prob saw it too as the place was packed on that 1^st visit. I remember we ordered shepherd’s pie and bison burger; well, remember those crappy schneider’s frozen shepherd pies you could heat up and eat (for me in my uni days)…and finished in all of like 5 bites? Yeah, well, picture that, only slightly bigger. I was hoping flavour would make up for the size but it was bland and I ended up having to sprinkle salt (rarely do this) and a lot of pepper to finish it off. As for the burger, it was just that… a burger that was nothing special. We are always willing to give a place a second chance though and while in the area thought we’d give it another go. It only confirmed for us that we will prob never return again… calamari was chewy, like it’d been sitting out cuz the breading was also chewy. As for the poutine they’re well known for, soggy fries you could tell were soggy before gravy hit it. Service was meh… bare minimum. Not again.

I’m from Toronto so this place is sadly too far for me to visit — though if for whatever reason I passed through again I would visit forsure! Food was absolutely amazing, had the seafood pasta which was to die for. great service. Can’t believe how awesome this resto was… if you pass through its a must to eat here!

One word Horrible. Was there last night. Waited 20 minutes for a seat. Pretty good for a Friday night. Was seated and the waitress took our drink order. There was no «up scale» liquor. So I settled for a local Pint. Wife had a glass of red wine. Ordered the lobster and crab dip. Wasn’t too bad a little fishy, I know it is seafood but it had that old fish taste. Finished my pint and waited to be asked for another as our entrées had arrived, No dice on that one. No water was served with the meal either. presentation was very nice. I ordered a sirloin medium. Steak was cooked medium but was not sweated at all. There was water and blood on the plate. Huge rookie mistake. Asparagus was raw. it was grilled but it was not cooked at all. Steak had zero flavour, I assume previously frozen. it was seasoned with Montréal steak spice. Really at a restaurant. Steak spice.
Wife had the exact same with potatoes. they were so dense and tasteless. Super horrible.
The owner came by to see how the steak were. I asked if the steaks were frozen. He replied no and started to run away like a cock roach when the lights come on. ahahahahahah lol
Not at all an up scale restaurant. top ten restaurant in Ontario no way.
