Hubby, baby & I made a trip down to Calgary back in November & decided to make a stop in here to check out the planes & other aviation devices. Unfortunately unbeknownst to us until we were already in, they were in construction mode, so much of the areas were blocked off. There were not many planes or aviation devices on display, which was quite disappointing. It was essentially 1 large room with a few planes(maybe 4 or 5 in total), some glass display cases with information on pilots & aviation history &1 large hangar with maybe 4 planes. The gift shop wasn’t even that great; many of the items were extremely overpriced & stock was low. The staff was friendly however… As much as I love aviation & hoped to love this place, it was a disappointment.

Impressive collection of aerospace memorabilia and full scale aircraft, most of which is in fantastic condition. Lots of little bits to look at, ranging from jet engines to wooden propellers and flight suits. And of course, the planes and helicopters. If you or your kids are at all interested in anything to do with flight or the history of the Canadian Air Force(Royal Canadian Air Force?) then this is a terrific stop. At $ 10 for adults, it’s worth it for an hour and a half of wandering. Don’t miss the Lancaster Bomber. What a huge dang plane! And in excellent condition!

Yeah, the Aerospace Museum is ok. I’ve been there once for a photoshoot and wasn’t particularly taken by the exhibits. If you live in Calgary, you should make a stop there, but I don’t encourage the annual pass. But the entrance fee is moderate, so you won’t be scandalized.

Calgary Aerospace museum is a must visit for anyone interested in aviation, or at least curious in regard. Most of the collection is in the excellent shape — you can see people really care about those machines, love them. The only nasty drawback is that poor CF-100 outside — it is just rotten through! :-(What a pity, and this aircraft is such an important part of Canadian aviation history. I hope they will rebuild it at some point — as merely restoration would not be helpful enough… Except for that, I’ve spent the whole day in that museum and was totally happy. I suggest starting your visit in the big hangar with Lancaster in it, then get outside for a moment, and then spend the rest of the time in the main museum building. There is a gift-shop and all the rest of the normal museum things around.
