Beautiful Bride

After a few girlfriends told me they bought their dresses at Beautiful Bride, I figured I’d have to check it out.
Pros:
— it’s really clean. Shoes off at the door etc. we went to a few other stores that were filthy, hadn’t been vacuumed in a while but this store was immaculate.
— Friendly staff and very professional.
— great selection of dresses and they are clean sample dresses with no rips and stains like some other stores.
— wide price range on dresses.
Cons
— It’s small so you need an appointment (especially weekends).
— No privacy in the mirrored area (other parents/​friends of other parties will see you try on dresses).
No they don’t let you take pictures but when you purchase the dress you are allowed.
The fact that this store was clean and very professional I would recommend it. I bought the third dress I tried on and I love it!

Shopped about a month ago. Took some time to think about what to say. While they don’t charge to try on dresses. They don’t let you take photos (even Ethos does which is great when you are trying to include a mother in Nova Scotia, inlaws in Germany and a bridesmaid too sick to come with you in your shopping). From the second I walked in I’ve never met snottier people in my life. The plus size dresses (if you call maxing out at 12 in try on dresses plus size) was terrible. Very few dresses to try on in very dated styles with ruching in places that make you look bigger. What a huge disappointment. I did find two dresses that were ok. But they wouldn’t let me write down the style number. The sales lady treated me not great about my size until I explained I have an abdominal cyst that is being removed close to my wedding. Then she got much nicer. Subtle fat shaming. Awful. I may be bigger. But keep in mind we wasn’t to look good too and sometimes will spend more money to look better. Which I did in the end. I spent more for a nicer dress with clean lines that makes me look amazing.

Had a great first experience with Kathy — she is wonderful. The next time I came was awful. The lady that was helping me gave the dress I was going to try on to another person. Didn’t let me try on another gown I wanted to. Took over a month and a half to get back to me about styles number of a dress. Very fake. Won’t be going back. They have a gem with Kathy, but the rest of them don’t do very well. It’s a shame because they are the only ones in Calgary that carry the dress I want. Will be going to a place outside Calgary for better customer service.

After looking at many of the larger stores, we spotted this little place along MacLeod trail. The selection was pretty good, there are discounted dresses to the more expensive designer ones. I didn’t need an appointment and the salesgirl was really helpful. This is were I found my wedding dress! I put down the deposit and the dress arrived in the time frame they said it would. It was the right size and in excellent condition. The cons about this place is they don’t do their own alterations but they did recommend someone who did a great job. Also, it is a very small store, so you don’t get much privacy.
