My husband and I go on Mondays for their $ 5.99 steak sandwich. It is fabulous. Every time it has been delicious. 7 oz. Seasoned well. Fresh cut french fries. Nice server. Pizza is good too. Wing Wednesday is also good. And really good poutine. Went with a frenchman who said it is the most similar poutine to what he would get in Quebec. Haven’t been disappointed here at all.

Food is decent. Service– not so much. Seem to hire the same flunkys that have hurt other local pubs in the Crowfoot area. Much better choices out there if you want service.

To start with a positive note, this place simply has the BEST pizza out of any pub or pizza restaurant I have been to in Calgary. It reminds me of a place I loved when I was a little kid. I am an Anti-Crust when it comes to pizza, but I ate the crust at Deacon’s because it was so damn good! Can’t go wrong with Spicy Mama pizza or Deacon’s Special. While the atmosphere is fine, it isn’t the most comfortable either. It just looks and feels standard inside, and could use a few more beers on tap — but that’s the only negative point I can make on this house of tremendous pizza! I was thrilled to learn they do delivery!

I had been to this location a few times several years ago, when it was still Rip’s. And while Rip’s had a decent wing special, Deacons has really stepped up their game. The pub has been completely renovated, with creative seating arrangements that lend themselves to either group/public settings or more intimate conversations. My family have made Deacons a regular Monday afternoon stop for their $ 4.99(now $ 5.99) steak sandwich special, and I finally joined them to check it out for myself. Our waitress was very friendly and more than happy to make my minor adjustments — salad, no fries; dressing on the side; keep the cucumbers — and my meal arrived as requested. In order to take advantage of the special, you have to purchase a drink, which is easy enough as tea, coffee and soda — not just alcohol — are acceptable. My steak was cooked exactly as I ordered and was a nice, tasty cut, if a bit greasier than most, due to the oil used to cook it. The salad was a very nice selection of baby mixed greens, though my sister took advantage of the Caesar topped with sizable chunks of crispy bacon. The dining area and bathrooms were clean, crisp and tidy, and the service was great. I stopped by in the early afternoon, so the pub had perhaps 8 diners and a handful of people enjoying the VLTs across the room. I’m not sure how packed this place gets during the evenings, but they feature a pretty varied and wallet-friendly special most days of the week. During the day, several televisions in the room boasted various sports events, but the sound level wasn’t at all disturbing, given the number of clients. I’m sold.

Good wings, I had the baja ranch, which the server said would be good. I also tried a «Dr Pepper», the bar tender did not know how to make this drink so the result wasn’t great but decent. Ha it also helps that my server was ridiculously cute! And as soon as I asked she put on the hockey game. Worth going back for the wings.

Friendly service and great food. On Thursday, the special was 2 mini burgers & fries for $ 4. It was a complete meal and mmmmmm so good. We had soup and drinks and still only spent less than $ 30.
