Deva Dave is always so friendly and welcoming as you enter his store. He’s a driven, kind individual that makes sure everyone is well taken care of. This kind of pride of ownership is an example to all small business owners. With his new business venture he certainly knows how to contribute to his community through his passions. Highly recommend any of his business to anyone!

Dave is one of the best colourists that I have ever worked with. And let me tell you I am very particular about my colour… everytime I have photos to get done I get him to do both hair and make up! In the time I have been going to see Dave we have developed a friendship which is important to me from a hairdresser. Dave is articulate and friendly and it is always entertaining going to his shop.

Love, love, love Diva Dave! BEST haircut in town. I hadn’t been in for far too long and my hair was a mess(my splits have splits). I had troubles getting in because I was on crutches(and kept dropping everything trying to pay the parking meter). I was a few minutes late. Justin helped me into the store, up the stairs and into a chair and then I waited until Dave was ready. Lyndsay washed my hair and Dave came over to start his magic. I needed a good 6(or more) inches lopped off and he not only cut off the dead nasty stuff but left me with a gorgeous cut that does just what I asked. Lyndsay ended up doing my style and blowdry and she did a great job. I’d never met her before but she was a sweetheart. Everyone, staff, clientelle, has a great time. Dave has built a lovely community. You always leave with a spring in your step. Not just because you had such a good time getting your hair done but because you look amazing when he’s done! Your haircut ends with a hug!

Contrary to the previous reviews, Deva Dave’s boutique is NOT a store«full of women’s clothing for men.» Look at a Drag Queen’s makeup. Now look at your Mom’s. Or your sister’s. Unless your Mom wears Transmuters, covers her brows with a glue stick on the regular and wears different wigs depending on her mood or what pop star she’s lip-syncing to that evening, chances are; this store isn’t the place you would go to to purchase a sensible day time dress for your lady friend with large feet. Some education: That being said, the bottom floor is the boutique section of Deva Dave. Wigs, Theatre grade makeup like local company Lit Cosmetics and Kryolan, OTT accessories, drag costumes and outfits, and male underwear brands like Andrew Christian. The staff here is ridiculously friendly, and seem to be a tight-knit group of friends that you’d want to party with after. The top floor is the salon section where you can find Dave himself, and Lindsay, working their hair magic. The salon is what brought my Dad and I here on a late Saturday afternoon, as he is on the hunt for a good hairstylist and DD had excellent reviews. Lindsay got it as close to the picture reference as she could, although it was just the teeniest bit too short in the back(which is fine in my opinion, since it’ll look perfect in a week, which is when my Dad will be on his vacation), and was very open to suggestions and letting my Dad style his own hair in the manner that he is accustomed. Dave instructed her to watch carefully, as it was a «good learning experience for how the ‘Old School’ style their hair.» They were a blast to talk to and made the visit a very enjoyable one for us both. At the end, Dave even gave me a hug! Love this place. Love that it exists in so-called«conservative Cowtown.» I’ll probably be back for a hair appointment of my own, since the price point is very reasonable. At the very least, I’ll definitely be back to pad my makeup collection with some Lit Cosmetics glitter!

I didn’t even bring in a picture of any haircut ideas and Dave gave me exactly what I wanted — like he’s psychic or something. Having to walk through the shoe and rainbow section to get to the salon upstairs is kinda evil because I now know where my next paycheque may end up!

I just realized this store is mostly for men who love women’s clothes, but this boutique has some unique hats and cool accessories, suitable for everyone. I must say, I was highly entertained by the staff, which entices me to go back.

Holy Priscilla Queen of the Dessert Folks! Let me be very clear, this is a boutique of women’s clothing but for men. It is just brimming with every tranny’s clothing, makeup and accessory desire. There are the best strapping long boots in an assortment of designs and colours with I swear 5 inch heels(look at my photos). There is also some great shit kicking heels that with make you tower over everyone when you go out and flaunt what you got. And keep in mind they will have the bigger sizes so you won’t be disappointed. An assortment of great wigs, long and short in every colour line one wall of the store, and they have a great little area for the bangles and bling that will just make your outfit sing. Another impressive thing amongst many here at DevaDave is that they carry Ben Nye makeup which is high quality entertainment makeup which does not irritate your skin and is super hypoallergenic. So you go girl and lip sync your heart out to that Kylie Minogue song. Dave the owner was upstairs in his beauty salon working which is on the second floor level of this location so basically he came down greeted me with a hug and told me to make myself at home and went sauntering back up the stairs. I love this shop and they also have a great assortment of rainbow propaganda to wave it «proud» girls and boys.

I live really close to Edmonton Trail and often it seems like a shame to drive so I’ll walk to the Video Store or a Restaurant or what-have-you. I really like it, and it gives me an opportunity to explore places I might not otherwise get the chance to explore. Walking by Diva Dave’s, the first thing I noticed were the sheer amount of shiny stripper shoes in all shapes, sizes and colours. I LOVE stripper shoes, so I could not resist and I went in. I lack powers of observation, so I spent a full five minutes under the impression that it was your run of the mill, a little sumthin sumthin for everyone dress up and erotic shop. I kept wondering why everything was not only not my size, but well, a lot bigger. Even the aforementioned stripper shoes seemed to outsize me. Guys, I’m hoping you clue in a lot faster. It’s called Deva Dave’s for a reason. But even though I’m a little disappointed that the sparkly platforms are meant for men, I think its awesome. The lovely lady who was minding the store was totally nice and explained everything. I am pretty sure she thought I got it until she saw the understanding literally DAWN on my face. That aside, I managed a fairly thorough exploration. The salon is upstairs and I was informed Dave works wonders on hair. But the stuff downstairs: hairdye and fishnets and wigs and shoes and corsets and women’s clothing and makeup, all for men. Actually, you know there was a decent amount of stuff that is great for the ladies and the guys, but whatever: I have a special fondness in my heart for drag queens, and so it was great to see a store that caters to a population that probably finds it difficult to find nice stuff that fits. At the very least, they have nice stuff. The lady was actually the owner of Gibson’s designs which are also sold out of the boutique. They are beautiful, and she is totally willing to make custom corsets, and her ready-to-buy designs were beautiful. Again with the goes both ways — awesome. It is definitely worth a visit.
