It’s cool, and lights up at night! Check out the asian restaurant on the corner for some good dishes with great service!

Who knew there was so much evil lurking in Ramsay? I certainly didn’t. At least, not until my very first visit to Caffe Rosso in Ramsay. As I turned onto 24th Ave, I spied what looked like an upside-down church. WTF? That’s a weird thing to have in a park in Ramsay. But, I’ve seen it somewhere before. In fact, I had seen it in my friend Barb’s apartment. She had a sketch of it. And yet it’s never something I pursued with questions, just noticed it there hanging innocently enough on her wall. And here was the real thing, sitting innocently enough on its steeple in a park. There are any number of interpretations one could take from a church turned on its head. I’m still not sure what to make of it… but it’s interesting to say the least. What I like even more about it is the fact that it came from Vancouver to Calgary. Some reading up about the upside down church revealed that it’s Dennis Oppenheim’s «Device to Root Out Evil.» It moved here in 2008 after there were complaints about it’s placement in Van and it was decided to remove it. I always thought of our Western neighbour as a heck of a lot more artsy and open than C-town. And yet here we are… with an upside-down church. Go Calgary! Unilocal’s 30 Day Challenge: 1⁄30
