Disclaimer: I’ve never attended Devry University; I actually got my degree from the University of Calgary. I’ll be approaching this review as a person who ran and organized an event here. Part of my volunteer duties with the Calgary Stampede is community outreach. One day over Stampede this summer, I was responsible for organizing an information kiosk to try to answer student’s questions about the Stampede. This required the assistance of faculty to provide assets such as space, tables, and other items. The staff at Devry are very friendly and so accommodating. They did their best to give me anything I needed and if they didn’t have it handy, they’d either try to track one down or in the case of a photography backdrop, offer to create one from scratch. The students are friendly too; as Devry is a small school, I’m not surprised by that as smaller space help facilitate better and stronger communities. Being dressed in Western duds, I felt a little out of place, but staff, students and faculty did their best to make me feel otherwise while I was there for a full afternoon. Like I said, I never attended Devry, but the community and culture at the institution is such that if I ever decided to go back to school, I could probably see myself enjoying myself here. 30⁄30
