I have to admit, the name is what made me walk in to the restaurant. That, and the advertised $ 12.99 Lunch Buffet. But yeah, to be honest, I took one look and said, to myself, «hehe! Stoner patrol restaurant.» I’ve always had excellent service coming here, and I love their vegetarian lover platter. You can pick and choose whichever vegetable dishes you want and they come with an appetizer, rice, naan and dessert. $ 13 for all that food? How can I say no? This is one of the rare places where I will willingly eat Okra, because their Okra Masala is wonderful and has no traces whatsoever of that unholy goo that normally accompanies it. Been coming here for about six years now, and it’s always been reliably delicious, so come check it out for yourself! Once you get downstairs, it’s not so bad. I love staring at the velvet paintings of the Taj Mahal while I wait for my food. Sure it’s in a basement, but what did you sign up for Unilocal for, if not to earn a pseudo-foodie card and find delicious food in scary, dark places?

I never love restaurants that are in the basement, so when I first walked down the stairs to get to Ganga, I was already not feeling it. The ambiance is alright, but it is pretty dark. Let’s get to the goods though: Food: — So so. Nothing to write home about. Definitely not the best Indian food in Calgary. I wont be going back Service: — Considering it was dead, the service was fine. But I’d be curious to see how the service is if it’s ever packed. Needless to say, I“m not going back to find out Ambiance: — Nicer than I thought it would be, but still too dark for my liking Overall: 2 stars out of 5
