Listen… I been going to Chrissy for over five years. I get my hair done about 3 — 4 times a year. That’s not including the appointments for special occasions such as Christmas parties.
I absolutely love her and followed her from the Arts Hotel to the 8^th St location. She’s phenom but my last appt a few weeks ago was more than disappointing.
The only time she touched my hair was to perform a colour… a whole 20 minutes.
I did not see her for the rest of the appt. Not even to check on her Assistant’s progress.
Her assistant washed and toned my hair… I expected that much. BUT the bored Assistant also blow dried and styled my hair… WTH!!! THE KICKER… she kept asking me if I was going out or going home. When I stated I was going home, she then proceeded to style my hair half-​ass and sent me on my way.
At this point I’m paying for my service… no sight of Chrissy or the bored Assistant, not even a thank you from my Stylist of over five years.
I have no problem paying the $ 250.00 for a service, leaving a proper tip or buying product… as long as my ACTUAL STYLIST is doing the service. If I’m paying the prices for the Stylist’s level of 4 or 5, then the ACTUAL STYLIST NEEDS TO COLOUR, BLOW DRY AND STYLE MY HAIR!!!
IF THE ASSISTANT IS DOING A MAJORITY OF THE APPT… you need to charge the appropriate prices. You also need to make sure she’s treating every appt the same. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF I’M GOING OUT OR GOING HOME… EITHER WAY I’M PAYING THE SAME PRICE FOR MY APPT!
If this continues I will take my business elsewhere. There are other high-​end salons that will be happy to take my business and actually do their job.

I went to the Hotel Arts location about 3 weeks ago. This location is noisy like the other two and is set up in a similar fashion (loud music, modern looking décor, lot’s of overly stylized people). My stylist was very nice but, as other people have mentioned, I dislike the fact that she continued to leave and attend other clients. My appointment started at 5:30Pm and I left the salon at 8:41PM. Ridiculous considering I have short hair and received nothing fancy as far as cut or colour.
The cut I ended up with was about a 1 inch shorter version of the cut I walked in with. I didn’t care for the style I went in with, so to have basically a shorter version of it, left me unimpressed. The red panels I received were great for about a week but the colour is now copper/​orange. When I called the HA location and asked for a colour correction/​fix, I was advised “I suggest you get the temptress colour condition treatment the next time you come in.“ This treatment cost’s an extra $ 20 dollars and, having actually had it before, does NOT lock in colour as suggested. I saw no difference in my colour longevity with it, as I did without it. There was no attempt made to have me come in to the salon and see the stylist so she could look at the colour and decide for herself, if the panels should be redone at no cost to me.
Total cost for everything was $ 245.00!!! 3 weeks later, my hair needs to be cut and recoloured again. I won’t be going back to Hedkandi anytime soon. There are a lot of talented stylists in Calgary, you shouldn’t have to wait three hours and spend a small fortune to get good hair.

I recently went from long hair to a short bob. I previously went to a different hair dresser who didn’t cut my hair how I wanted. Mickalynn currently cuts my hair and I can not say enough positive things about her. She knows what she is doing, and doesn’t disappoint. If you are wanting a change, you should give her a call as she will deliver 10x over!

I had my hair cut and coloured by Maddison — and I LOVED it!
From the moment I sat in her chair, I was calmed by her outgoing, bubbly, friendly personality, but more importantly impressed with her knowledge and expertise and professionalism. She knew exactly what I wanted, but also was not shy to offer her advice and recommendations. She did an outstanding job! She is hilarious and fun to talk to!
I have read the reviews about price — I did not feel it was pricy — it was on par with all other salons of this caliber. When it comes to Maddi — you get what you pay for!
Not only that, but I was asking about extensions and Krystal (stylist that is qualified to do extensions) was working — she stayed late after her shift to see my hair and do a consultation on the spot — she opened up time for me to come in and get my hair done — outside of her working hours as she was booked up and knew how badly I wanted them.
Customer service was top notch! I cannot say enough great things about this salon! I will definitely be going back!

Lots of waiting. They schedule a lot clients at the same time and then the stylist goes from client to client passing you off to other people. For over $ 200 for color, you don’t expect to have to wait for the towel-​fold girl to rinse you or drip dry waiting for her to clear coffee cups while the stylist bops around. Took almost 3 hours to get through and the result was disappointing.

Was kind of shocked at how much I paid for colouring. I walked out $ 177.00 lighter (not including a tip nor haircut). I don’t think I’ll be revisiting unless I get a job in the high paying energy sector.

Really pricey for what you get but convenient location keeps me going there. The lower experienced stylists are better value and they give decent cuts. Avoid Robbie. His ego is beyond his skillset, and while he has a good skillset, I can’t put up with his «you’re so lucky to be in my presence, and I’ll pawn you off on all my jrs, and be 40 minutes overtime working on you because I talk so much to the salon girls around me» attitude.

I spent two hours here to get my hair colored, cut, washed, with a blow out. It wasn’t the best cut I’ve ever had. Nor the best color. Which came out to $ 200.00 with a $ 20.00 off coupon for first Tim visits. nice shop! Treated very well, but I’ll probably not go there again.
