We went there on our way home last night. This is the 2nd time I have been in there. The staff were rude, not one of them smiled once. The woman opened 2nd till and walked over beside other clerk and stared at customer behind me, did not even have the courtesy to say something like«I can help you here». The guy helping me asked if I wanted a bag for my wine but did not have the courtesy to listen to my response which was yes please. So after paying I had to ask him for a bag. The prices are outrageous! The friend from out of town we had with us bought 24 Bud and it was $ 12 more than the liquor store down the road at Richmond Road and 51street, which is where we usually shop. Won’t be back.

Home away from home. A place where everyone knows your name… Lol, just joking. Friendly service and product deserve five stars. Kudos to David, Zach and Amy. David knows so much about wine and always steers me to stellar picks, even in the lower price range. Weekly wine specials and their point system are awesome. Accumulate 6,000 points, which doesn’t take that long, and you get $ 23 off your next purchase. During their Christmas sale, I picked up Piper for only $ 40.00 a bottle!

I’m a fan of drinks. But not a fan of the über-trendy hipster Pabst/Pil phenom on a rampage these days. I, am a fan of great Whiskey, Bourbon & Mead. This place has all of the above, and the staff is completely knowledgable. I would leave SOLO with the late night/cash poor runs if possible.

Highlander, your store is clean and filled with such alcoholic goodness, your staff are friendly and knowledgeable and you stock a very interesting and diverse selection of product. Last time I was in we were searching for some delicious brews to compliment our Sunday Funday, highlander stocks a wide selection of import and craft breweries. We ended up getting a taster pack from a New Zealand brewery, which I haven’t spotted any where else previously. The only reason I can’t give you 5 stars Highlander is that parking lot is a nightmare. It also doesn’t help that the pub next door has claimed/reserved half the spots of the lot and I hate getting dirty looks from the chiropractors office when I pull into their space. You are better off parking in the street. Review #29 of Unilocal’s 30 Day Challenge

I really like Highlander — it’s a great spot to pick up your wine and spirits. This location is actually a good size, despite being in a strip mall. They’ve got it very well laid out, in my opinion. There are always sales going on — especially on wine. I like browsing the wine every time I go in. Tonnes of parking in this strip mall and it’s easily accessible from Richmond Rd(although it’s a bit awkward to get back out since they made the first turn-off one-way only, but I do think it works better now). The employees are really friendly and knowledgeable. And they have some sort of points/discount system based on your phone number — I’m not exactly sure how it works but if it gets me a few bucks off here and there, I’m okay with that! The team here are deeply knowledgable about wines – both tried and true and exciting and new – and despite the store’s size, they manage to pack a pile of ever-changing selections into it. It’s the first, last, and only place I go to stock my cupboard.
