Holiday Inn Express & Suites Calgary

This place is awesome. Good service. Good beds and right next to Dickons pub. This place is about $ 200 a night.

I mostly stay in HIEs when I’m on biz trips so I stayed here when I was working in Calgary. It was ok. The weather was hot and the hotel only has A/​C in the rooms so all the common areas were stuffy and too warm. The fitness area only had a fan on so definitely not enough ventilation and cool air for me to get a good workout. Only one ice machine and it was in the basement so that was annoying when I wanted ice and had to go all the way down there –to the hot basement in the hot hallways and elevator– to get it. Room was ok but no full-​length mirror which is odd for HIE. Not sure I’d stay at this one again for all the little things that weren’t there when they can usually be counted upon for a stay at HIE. The consistency just wasn’t there.

Helpful staff. Nice Rooms with good quality cable TV and fairly comfortable beds. The hotel itself was small and quiet which was nice. The continental breakfast was good, actual real food that was hot and fresh.
The only downside was the location of the hotel — pretty sketchy neighborhood with drunks outside during the night. But they recommended I park underground, and they didn’t charge me for it so that was nice.
Totally recommend it if your downtown Calgary.

Three and a half stars for this place… the front desk person was super helpful, the rooms were good… two phones, a fridge, a desk, coffee, a nice chaise lounge and a patio where the pigeons sometimes like to chill.
However I just didn’t sleep well… could have been the nearby train going by throughout the night or the fact that my phone (with someone else’s messages from days ago) kept flashing red… odd…don’t want to sound like a weirdo… but I felt like someone else was in my room when there wasn’t supposed to be… strange…just strange.
