This company came out to estimate some required insulation work in our home. Estimators were rude, intrusive and really had no clue how to address the issues. They don’t have a thermal camera so really don’t even have a clue if there is missing insulation in certain areas. We have now consulted other insulation companies who all have thermal cameras to assess missing insulation. After wasting an entire morning the company says, they can’t quote me for the work required as they«don’t feel comfortable» working on a high end home. Really? But they were more than willing to provide me with an estimate on «upgrading» the existing insulation — sell job. Stay away.

Rating des Ortes: 4 Calgary, Canada
In November, Calgary had a pretty brutal wind storm. To the point where glass was falling out of buildings and the downtown core had to be shut off to traffic in/out for a few hours. My house wasn’t spared — enough shingles were torn off my roof that there were bare spots on it. Now, I knew my roof had to be replaced within five years when I bought the house, so instead of patching the roof and getting a new one in a year or two, I decided to just take the hit and replace the roof on both my house and garage. My dad, being the on-top-of-it guy he is, got me a quote from a roofer he knew of. I saw it, almost fainted, and let this lapse for a long time because my insurance company claimed they couldn’t inspect the roof safely until spring. I had them send someone to tarp the roof(staple a couple of pieces of garbage bag to the bare spots) and that was that. When May rolled around, the insurance company gave my estimate for fixing the roof, left it in an envelope on my doorstep(no word of a lie) and left me to it. I tried getting a few more quotes(I do everything to the nth degree), but most roofing places never responded to my inquiries, one made an appointment and never showed, and one company showed up, did the evaluation, and then never sent me the estimate??? So, I came back to the quote I got from my dad… 6 months prior — from Ideal Insulation. Called them up, expecting the runaround, new quote, more money… the usual. Instead, they said they’d honour what they quoted, even though they’d changed to a far superior product in the past few months. So, they gave me the book of colours(I was super excited about that until I realized I better stick with the«normal colours» — bah) and asked me to pick one. Even better, if the rain held off, they were going to start within a few days. And, two weeks later, I had a brand new roof. When I didn’t have enough room on my credit card to process the entire invoice, they were really good about waiting a few days for my payment to go through. And when I had a couple of questions(one ended up being that they left some extra material just sitting on my roof — minus one star for that) they came by within a day to check it out and get back to me. All in all, I can highly recommend Ideal Insulation. Great people, great work. Review #15 of Unilocal’s 30 Day Challenge 2012
