This review is based on my experience going to Dr. Kennedy for allergy testing. I was very displeased for the following reasons 1. An hour late to see me for my appointment, apparently this is common as the receptionist shrugged it off and there were signs in the waiting area saying basically that they run behind all the time, deal with it 2. The receptionist talked very loudly, I could hear the personal information of other patients even though I had soft music playing in my headphones 3. The office was very dated and shabby, basically straight out of the 60’s and really REALLY needed a thorough cleaning. 4. Receptionist was dressed in extremely tight clothing that clung to every roll and it was very unpleasant to look at especially paired with 6 inch platform hooker heels.(By the way WCB does not cover injury to feet if you wear open toed shoes at work so those are a terrible option especially for a medical environment) it does not give a professional vibe at all it was awkward. She was also very short and curt in her manner of speaking To almost everyone who came in except for 2 people who appeared to be «regulars» she smiled at them and was somewhat friendly. 5. When the doctor did a «scratch test»(this means taking an instrument and scratching the skin of the arm to see if the patient has overly sensitive skin prior to the actual allergens being applied) He picked up what appeared to be a old wooden stick and very roughly scratched my arm 3 times without warning. It is proper bedside manner to inform someone when you will be scraping them quite hard. DISPOSABLEINSTRUMENTSMUSTBEUSEDWHENEVER A PROCEDUREBREAKSTHESKIN. I was scraped with the same old wooden stick sitting on a counter, not sterile, Dr wasn’t even wearing gloves. That means exposing my broken skin to dozens of previous patients broken skin as well. Unacceptable and unsanitary. I’m not even kidding it looked like when you take a stick and whittle it with a pocket knife, it was all banged up and what should have been used is small individual plastic or wooden sticks which are immediately disposed of after use and used only on 1 patient. 6. The nurse who administers the allergen test is ok, while she is a bit odd she does a fairly acceptable job. However she still contributed somewhat to the«trashy» ambience of this place. 7. There was nowhere to hang my purse or coat in any of the 4 rooms I had to go into at the various stages of this appointment. The last thing I want to do is lay my things of the filthy floor of this dirty place 8. For a breath test they clamp your nose shut with a plastic pincher device. I have 2 nose studs on my nostril. They’re very clearly visible. The Dr didn’t say anything to me about removing them, he just snapped the pincher clamped right on my nose and it was extremely painful To have 2 pieces of metal abruptly mashed into the soft flesh and cartilage inde my nose. 9. He wasn’t very thorough with his diagnosis or prescription. He observed my skin’s reaction to the allergens and I was looking over his shoulder as it appeared he was rating the reactions on a scale of 1 to 10. He only told me about a couple but it seemed like there was more on the sheet than what he verbally told me. The information given was photocopied sheets that were old and blurry. He wrote a prescription for 2 items and said take them for a month. I had to ask how many times a day, how many pills, what time of day to take. He didn’t really explain it. 10. Overhearing staff coming out into the waiting areas complaining that this day is taking forever, how boring it is, and how badly they need an assistant for the over worked front receptionist lady. Go complain to your boss about it and ask them to fix it but it’s not professional to be coming out saying it in front of patients. 11. The cost was $ 90 in total which isn’t too bad but given the above mentioned points I doubt you’d find me back here again. 12. Took me a min of 2 months to get an appointment, and I could hear the loud receptionist was telling other patients they were booking into end of June now which is 4 months wait. I guess people just go here cuz there aren’t many allergist in calgary? Or? I don’t know. My dr sent me here by referral and I will be telling her in no uncertain terms the contents of this review and that I will not be going back there. it wasn’t a very pleasant place
