Liquor Box

Great little place to stock up on the hard stuff!

The first time I noticed the name while driving past on Crowchild Trail, I think I said out loud, «Are you serious?» I had to stop by the store to see if my mind was in the gutter or if this business really is taking advantage of the homophone. Sure enough, they are. As mentioned in the previous review, apparel and even business cards are printed with I Went Down to Liquor Box. I may have thought it was funny when I was in my 20’s but as a more mature woman, I think it’s really tacky and it puts me off.
Being that I was in the store anyway, I made the effort to peruse and do commend them for a decent variety of individual beers and a delivery service. Not many stores carry UV Cake (one of my new favorite spirits) but they had it here, so I snagged a bottle. I also noticed they carry some types of liquor in 375ml that I had not seen before.
Sigh. I am torn. I don’t like the intent with the business name but there are some positives about the store. I likely won’t shop here again out of principle.
April Challenge: The Underdog ²¹⁄₃₀

I went down to Liquor Box and all I got was a tee shirt! A classic line made famous by this Stadium liquor store. You can literally get a tee shirt that has that slogan on it. It’s pretty awesome!
Liquor Box is your pretty standard liquor store, with average prices and regular stock. The nice thing about this location is that their beer is in a large cooler. It’s nice and refreshing walking in there on a hot summer day, but not such a treat on winter days! It is, however, nice to buy your beer already cold and not have to cool it before drinking!
They even sell my favourite alcohol… Boone’s. They come in an assortment of different flavours and are only about $ 5.00 a piece. Liquor Box is always stocked with Boone’s… in the cooler too!
The guys that work the till are kind of funny. They always make a joke with me about my Boone’s purchases. Yes, they remember me, yet every time they check my ID. Just doing their job, I guess.
It’s a good store, but doesn’t have the most convenient location. It’s sometimes difficult to get out of the parking lot, especially if there was just a game at McMahon Stadium.
All-​in-​all, Liquor Box gets two Boone’s up from up! I’ll gladly go down to Liquor Box and get a tee shirt!
