Wowee! I can’t believe we’ve got this baby in our city! Canada Olympic Park has gone way beyond a Ski Hill /Memorial for the 88′ Olympics — The Markin MacPhail centre is a 500,000 square foot, state of the art world class olympian training ground in one very cool looking building! With four indoor hockey arenas and a bobsled/louge ice house, Canadian athletes can stay committed to their love of ice, even during those pesky summer months. I’m very happy to have this in Calgary!

Tonight I had my first experience at the Winsport Markin Macphail Centre. This is a 500,000 square foot complex designed around Calgary’s commitment to sport, and specifically winter olympic sport. There are Hockey arenas, training centres and even an Ice House… whatever that means!(the Internets tells me it’s for ‘Lugers’… sorry, no pun intended). Beyond the training facilities, it also houses an incredible facility for hosting meetings and events, to which I was privy of. Pecha Kucha 18 was held here for around 200 eager listeners. The sound system was perfect, the bartenders attentive and efficient and the chairs fresh, clean and comfortable. What more could you ask for!!! Overall, I give this a full 5 star review for an investment very well spent!
