Came here after leaving Kensington pub… the place was dead… and this was Grey Cup Sunday. Was hoping to find something to eat here but very typical pubs carry no Vegan fare… except fries or salad. YAWN. Service was good…

I don’t know what happened to this place. It used to be awesome. The food was great and it was always full. Over the last year, every time I’ve gone there, the experience has gotten worse and worse. The food is tired and boring. The atmosphere is starting to seem like a tired rigger bar. The service is still good. It’s the only reason I’m giving it two stars. I’m honestly sad about the way Molly Malone’s is going. It used to be one of my favorite pubs in Calgary on par with Kensington Pub, but I’m kind of done with it now. As for the experience tonight, they were out of almost everything. Half of their draft was out and they’re now even out of ketchup. I got the feeling they’re about to fold.

Welcome to Calgary… Beer for the rich. Domestic pints start at $ 8 and go up. Otherwise kind of a cozy Irish sports bar pub. Many tv’s in a small place. Decent selection of beers. In Kensington area where clubs abound and parking is nowhere to be found. More a place for the young ins.

Wife and I WERE having a good time here. Decent food, Guinness on draft, and lovely friendly waitress. But near the end of our night, I(husband) left to use the washroom. When I came back, some D-bag named«Tory», oil worker from Fort Mac had come over to our table and was hitting on my wife! I tried to make small talk with the guy, giving him several hints to take a hike. He was completely s — faced and oblivious to verbal and nonverbal clues. At first his conversation was innocent enough, talking about his job. But out of nowhere he went on a horribly homophobic and racist rants about immigrants invading Canada(I am not Canadian). When I politely told him I did not agree with his horrible comments, he threatened to hit me. He started cursing and yelling at us and told us to «get the f— out of his country». I went to pay our bill(no discount) and told the staff what had just happened. The bartender said he was going to kick the guy out, but Dbag was still there, now sitting at the end of the bar. We quickly left and no further ugliness. Horrible end to what started out as a lovely evening. First impressions count and if this is the kind of clientele this restaurant attracts, we won’t be back.

Headed to Molly Malone’s after a disappointing Yardhouse experience tonight. On my own looking for a pint and meal. Greeted with great professional service, meal and baseball game. Well done — well managed!

Food was good, service was great. Nice place to sit on the roof and the live music is always nice. I am especially a fan of all the art students that come down and sparkle some randomness. Sam was my server, she was cool. Helped me out with all the damn wasps.

The worst wing experience ever! Super cold, tasteless wings! Will never return again!

Stopped by first time at this pub, with my wife last night. We stayed for dinner, and the waitress was very friendly and didn’t talk to us like she was just out of high school. Very personable. Food awesome. Entertainment top shelf!

I was here last night with a friend. I came in a little inebriated so the bar tender told me to drink water before he would serve me. I am really glad the bar tenders here are responsible like that. Most places the bar tender would just pour you whatever you want to drink and not care if you might be getting drunk.

Probably some of the worst food that I’ve ever had. Took over an hour to get our food and a bunch of the orders were wrong. They also have a weak beer selection. The only good thing about this place is the patio, but I’ll never go back.

Came in for lunch on a Friday, had a reservation for 9. No problem being seated, there was no on there. Sat down at 11:50, asked about our food status at 12:53. Food was on our table at 1:05. Food was beyond disgusting. Beef dip, two strips of dried out deli meat you could buy at any grocery store. Mcdonald’s French fries. I ordered the poutine as a side, maybe 3 cheese curds on the whole thing. Beer selection was your choice of any of the normal corporate beers, with some selections. Nothing to brag about, very mundane beer selection. Combine the food with the beer you end up with the worst of the worst. Since they have a really nice patio we figured it would be a nice place for lunch. Think again. It even took 20 minutes to get our bills after we asked. All in all, this was my first and only experience at Molly Malone’s. I will never come back and I will religiously defer any of my friends who consider going here in the future. So sad because they are sitting on gold mine real estate and can’t even figure out how to provide a decent beer menu. Will never return. If there was a 0 star option I would have picked it.

They have a great rooftop patio — Thad a good thing. Service is kind of hit and miss. Beer selection is okay and menu is nothing to write home about. I feel like it wouldn’t be hard for them to do better and be a cool spot to go rather than just a pub.

A typical Irish pub with some good daily food & drink specials, and a nice huge heated rooftop patio with bar. I typically don’t buy mussels in Calgary, but the ones on special here were fresh and nicely cooked in a garlic white wine butter sauce. A bargain at $ 0.30 each. The items other people were getting looked above par too, so definitely a place to return to!

No just no — our server was friendly enough but when my food came out raw and then never came back out … That’s a problem — we got it in a to go box 15 minutes after we asked for the bill — And it was still raw and nasty — in the time they«recooked» it I believe re-cooking consisted of smothering in BBQ sauce — because that makes it cooked? No thank you — no apology either — just a «there was supposed to be a runner» comment…

I feel this would have been a good visit with great potential; however… it just fell short on many levels. It was a beautiful 30+ sunny day and my dear friend’s birthday. We both love the heat and thought, hey why not a rooftop patio that is just out of the stampede craze. So Molly’s is where we ended up. All was good at first, I was able to get a half pint of Stiegel Radler and socialize. The next few events kind of sucked though… when our waitress came back to take our food requests we ordered wings to start and then he got a steak sandwich and I asked for the chicken greek salad with the dressing on the side… About 45 mins gone by and we were delivered our wings and mains at the same time and my salad was like soup in dressing and there was EXTRA dressing on the side… I was very disappointed… His steak was also not cooked the way he wanted. Our server came back and asked how is everything, and when I said«well, it’s ok… but…» at that, she just walked away without even letting me finish my sentence. Overall being outside on the roof was nice and there were decent beer choices, however I will never go back… I like my food too much to pay for something I ate ¼ of.

The roof top deck(when open during the summer months) rocks. I live in the area and have visited several times. The upstairs service staff have always been attentive and courteous and the music is great. The waitresses seem to remember me and my favorite order — which is a pint of village and the nachos. Speaking of which, I’m going to step out on a limb here and make a rather bold statement… the nachos at Molly’s are arguably the best I’ve had in Calgary. I know, who would think that an Irish Pub would make great nachos? The chips and adornments are brought to the table smoking hot and there is always a side tray with three bowls(one for freshly chopped tomatoes, guacamole and cold sour cream). The only reason that I can’t give Molly’s a solid 5 is that the downstairs is somewhat of a dungeon and although the service is decent, it almost appears that I’m in two different restaurants from a customer service perspective(the service is better upstairs). The roof-top at Molly’s is definitely a fun place to meet up with friends for a pint or two.

Molly’s is your quintessential Calgarian Irish pub. There’s one in every neighbourhood, but this one is in Kensington! On the condition that you’re in, or nearby Kensington, this is a great feature! If you’re not; good luck find parking at peak times. This wood from floor to ceiling, man cave of an Irish pub does happy hour like a champ. We’re talkin’ $ 4 pints, $ 4 wine, 40cent wings and 4 mini yorkshires for $ 4. Starts at 4pm for 4 hours. Every. Day. Woo! They have a fantastic roof top patio complete with roof top bar! When summer comes around, the time I spend at Molly’s goes through the roof. Literally! *groooan* The servers are hit or miss, at the same time. What? It all depends on your perception. If fast and consistent service is important to you, Molly’s is only ok. If plaid skirts are important to you, you’re gonna be well off.

I have never encountered less than good service here. The servers/bartenders have always been friendly and attentive, and they’ve played some great classic rock when I’ve been there. I haven’t tried the food, and the rooftop patio is sweeeeeeet. The problem is that the booths along the wall look exactly like the bathrooms along the same wall until you look at them straight-on. Get rid of that wall so it’s easy to see the bathrooms. I wouldn’t have to ask otherwise.
