I don’t have children and don’t use Phoenix Foundation personally, but I have a client who does and have experienced first-hand the amazing support that Phoenix has to offer children and parents. I accompanied my client to a conference that involved meeting with two teachers to discuss the status of my client’s home schooling progress with her kids. I was blown away. Phoenix staff are there to provide guidance to families who home school their children and they also offer additional workshops, camps, etc. for kids. These teachers are extremely accommodating and are understanding of families who have complex circumstances, so rather than belittle them for struggling to follow a curriculum, they work together with the parents to problem solve issues and find reasonable solutions to ensure the kids are receiving necessary education in all subjects. The two teachers I interacted with were very kind, soft spoken and reassuring. My client was experiencing high anxiety because she felt she was failing her children by not comprehending all of the curriculum, making up some of her own projects for the kids instead and not following the correspondence between parents in the online chat room. After this meeting, my client walked away just glowing, as the teachers instilled confidence and developed trust with her. I’ve also toured the facility and could see that some of the education rooms were very well decorated and would definitely be stimulating for kids. It made the school I attended look pretty lame. If you or someone you know is home schooling children independently, I highly recommend reaching out to this amazing resource.
