I love perogies. The problem with perogies is that they take forever to make from scratch, and I’m lazy. Moreover, the Cheemo brand in the grocers’ freezer case is an abomination. Over the weekend, I found my new, soon to be regular, perogy provider. The family run Russian Store in Woodlands is a vibrant, authentic Russian market. Besides selling some wicked homemade perogies, they have a wide array of canned goods, candy, and cured meats, all distinctly Russian. I’d go into more detail, but my Russian reading comprehension is a little on the nonexistent side. What I can tell you about, however, is that the perogies were fantastic. The potato cheese filling was creamy and salty, and the dough on the outside had a great consistency and fried up well.
