This little lounge is inside the Grand Hyatt in Calgary. Good service, good food, good drinks, plus a nice fireplace. A great hotel lounge!

This is our second time coming here from out of town and this time my boyfriend and I deliberately stopped here to have a drink at the bar, and hoped to have the bartender who took such good care us last time. We were in luck Saturday night as Javier was working. He is such a great bartender. Unassuming yet friendly and helpful. He offers great drink suggestions(my boyfriend wanted something with tequila in it and Javier surprised him with a very interactive drink called the«Mexican Flag» which is apparently quite popular with the older crowd in Mexico). Sandstone lounge itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere. It was a busier night than usual with a private christmas party function going on in the Thomsons Restaurant next door so guests were also leaving the party to buy drink at the bar. But we enjoyed our drinks nonetheless. Thanks Javier!

This place really surprised me! I went there for lunch and I really liked it… The salad with pineapple, chicken and Brie cheese was Awesome! The bread was delicious… I definitely would like to go back there!

Dammit, I came back, introduced someone to this place and was kinda let down by the food! Service was still great as was the décor but the food — ugh. Why did you revamp your menu, guys? A chicken burger was ordered. Bun was at least a day old, rubbery, frozen chicken(even though the sever said she swore by it and could eat it daily) and the fries tasted of the frozen variety out of a bag. The cheese was melted around the breast to perhaps mask it’s drab sadness. My mussels that I ordered again this round did not have any colour(that whitiness you just do not want to see on mussels, the colour of eyeball) and were sitting in a bland chicken soup broth instead of the beautiful Thai goodness enveloping the mussels before. The garlic toast again, not good enough for the birds outside. Still just as pricey catering to all the suits of course! Staff could care less about improvement options. A let down and I wish for our celebratory occasion I had picked elsewhere but weekend lunch spots downtown can be hard to find within walking distance of Telus.

Great bar at the Hyatt. My fiancé and I were staying here and came for drinks after dinner. Good service, busy and has yummy mixed nuts. Will return on our next visit :)

Three fellow students and I went to Sandstone Lounge for celebratory drinks last night after writing our last exam of the term — yay! I wasn’t allowed anything alcoholic due to pending surgery, two girls were unaccustomed to drinking so didn’t really know what they wanted, and we were all giggly and punchy from stress and lack of sleep. The lounge wasn’t too busy, and the waitress was very patient and kind, so it was a really lovely experience. We had picked out the Hyatt Lounge a couple of weeks ago to represent our«treat» for«complete», and let the young’uns go drink beer somewhere noisy and smelly. I had hot chocolate and a «bake on demand» chocolate soufflé — almost as good as a martini, but we’ve promised ourselves to go back for one of those after block week in May.
