Most of us Depart and Arrive out of an Airport and don’t fully realize the extent of associated commercial aviation operations that are running nearby. That could be FedEx or in my recent case at YYC, industry-operated Embraer jet service to the Alberta Oil Sands area. On the Departure side, our Team Lead insisted that we get to the Aerodrome early as to not miss our 8:30AM flight. We ended up having plenty of time as we arrived at 5:30AM and after meeting in the Hotel Lobby an hour earlier. I could have used the extra sleep rather than sitting around drinking coffee or going out for a walk within this light industrial looking part of the YYC grounds. Once things got going, check in and security was a breeze, and before we knew it we had taken off for a smooth and comfortable 1.5 hour flight to Albian. Coming back was even better as there was civilization in Calgary to look forward to experiencing again. After we landed, the cabs were there and the weekend was soon to begin.
