Stash is the best knitting store! The staff is so helpful. Veronica, the owner, is a knitting genius! I took a scarf in that I had seriously messed up and Veronica took the time to fix it and show me how to knit it properly. If she hadn’t helped, the scarf was heading for the garbage. Aside from the amazing staff, the yarn selection is gorgeous! They carry a wide range of supplies, cool buttons and other neat knitting accessories. Go to this store, you will love it!

Friendly, knowledgable, patient staff. The same cannot be said for some of the other similar shops in town(not to be named). I’m new to knitting, so I appreciate that they understood that and helped me along the way. I’ve also had the chance to take a couple of their classes, are also so great — you walk away with a completed, wearable project, and most importantly, a sense of accomplishment and confidence. So, I’m happy to recommend Stash as a source not only for yarn and knitting supplies, but also for support and friendly service. Thanks ladies!

I love to hit up LYS when I travel and Stash was absolutely amazing! They aren’t a huge store but the stock they carry is lovingly curated. They had a few lines of Quince, a good amount of Manos and Malabrigo along with some Canadian yarns. Being that they’re probably in a colder climate than my native California, they didn’t have as much fingering weight but had plenty of DK, Worsted, and Aran. They had these amazing buttons that were made out of elk antlers that are harvested in Alberta. Picked up Sweet Georgia Yarn and elk buttons as a souvenir! Staff was very friendly and really helpful!

I don’t know what’s going on in here, but I really really like it! The crazy eccentric, totally spunky and did I mention crazy little ol’ granny that I never had lives here — or at least it looks like it. It’s sort of like walking into the most adorable, colourful bird’s nest made of the funkiest and softest looking yarn. Take a look at the photos. If you know what any of this stuff is, I have a feeling you will LOVE this store. They have lots of it, and they have many different types of it — many kinds that I’ve never seen before. It makes me wish I knew what to do with it so I could turn my entire world into a soft, warm and colourful wonderland of knitted everything! And if I ever decided to do just that, they offer classes. I met one of their instructors selling her wares at a Christmas Market and she had the most adorable and brightly coloured and creative. hand-made mitten and toques you could dream of. You just can’t help but want to know more. Even while not understanding the majority of the store, it’s just so awesome in there I had to buy something! I picked up a Needlefelting Kit as a Christmas present for my sister. Apparently you can make this super cute Robin by mostly just stabbing the felt balls. I don’t quite get it, but I know my sister will know what to do! I just hope she doesn’t read this review before Christmas. Along with every kind of knitting everything, they have a good and small selection of already made items and kits that would be good for gifting.

Not only is this little store adorable, but the staff are so knowledgeable! I popped in here last weekend needing to find a new pair of needles for a project, and they were able to help me figure out what I needed despite not having a pattern, the weight of the wool with me, or any other useful details. Not only that, they looked for ages(even in the store room) for a pair of needles of the type I thought I needed, and when they couldn’t find any, spent about 15 minutes with me figuring out what the best substitute would be. I was really impressed by this level of attention and thought to helping me get going with my project, as well as how well the store is laid out(it’s gorgeous, clean and cute). I could also see a class going in the side room, which really impressed me — that they could get out that many knitters on such a snowy day! I’ll definitely be going back there when I need more supplies!

This local yarn store is one of my favourites! Perhaps because it’s true that you never forget your first… And it was Stash that taught me to knit and crochet with patterns! Love the yarn selection here as well as the kits they provide for Calgary Folk Fest! I also love the fact that staff at Stash welcome each person that comes into the store, but aren’t super clingy when you’re there, allowing you to explore their varied yarn selections at a leisurely pace that fits your mood. Welcoming is definitely the vibe to this store whenever I visit it(which is often!).
