As I’ve always espouced, I try to support the local greasy spoons whenever I can, partially out of respect for the people who usually run such places(immigrant normally, hard working, long hours) or that they usually carry basically decent hardy food for inexpensive prices. I usually know what to expect at these places, and this was no different really. Sunshine Restaurant, on a side street just next to Barlow Trail, is a quaint little place just near all of the offices and warehouses of the area. Specializing more in breakfast and lunch fare(I don’t think I’ve ever seen them open in the evening), it’s the typical place where you can get your bacon and eggs, morning sausages and so on. It’s by no stretch of the imagination a «destination» breakfast place for sundays, but it’ll do in a pinch just before you get into work. They admittedly take the term greasy spoon waaaaay too close to heart(I usually have to pat down the sausages and bacon with a napkin), but when $ 6 gets you eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, toast AND coffee all together, plus access to the Calgary Sun to leisurely read, I can live with it. Oh, and I MEAN leisurely, no music, and usually customers seem to mostly take out as opposed to sit down so I end up being the only customer in the room. They also offer a selection of burgers, hot dogs,(american-style) chinese food and the like on their menu, though I’m never around the area for lunch time. #36 of Unilocal’s 30-Day Review Challenge
