There is pretty much no way I can ever really give this company any higher than this score. There’s been just way too many occurances of Bait and Switch and just outright stupidities that will keep me from ever rating this place above 2. First, the general processing is more or less ok. It doesn’t take too long overall, and at least that’s done right. It’s what happened after that has pretty much soured me on this company. First, my company was told that we could switch over from our blackberry phones to the androids with as little pain as possible. All contacts, numbers would be transferred and completed. Not being in the Cellular business, this sounded a little fishy to me since the Blackberry and Android were completely different platforms, but my dealer assured me this would be done. Well, I get my android phone, and I find that any of the numbers and contacts that I may have shared with Google, Facebook and Linkin did transfer effortlessly. THe problem is that EVERY number and contact I had that was directly entered into the Blackberry was lost completely, with no means of ever retrieving it back! Sooo… there went about 20% of all of my contacts. LIEONE. Then, we were sold to pay into a very expensive monthly hazard insurance that we were told that would ensure a smooth immediate replacement of the phone should it even fall down and break down. Nope. This was a TOTAL lie. 3 months later, and long after the standard 30 day replacement warranty, my phone’s USB suddenly stopped working for some reason, though the rest of the phone was working. Faced with a quickly diminishing phone, I went there to take advantage of the expensive warranty. Nope, instead it was treated like a NORMAL warranty, that is, since it was out of the 30 day standard replacement, it would have to be sent back to SAMSUNG for 4 – 8 weeks, and then if they couldn’t fix it, ONLY then would I get a replacement phone. LIETWO Considering that this was my work phone, and we were assured that it was an immediate replacement extended warranty, we cancelled immediately and demanded a refund of the warranty fees since we were bait and switched. Nope, it was refused, and they just processed it like any other RMA despite having bought 3 smartphones and paid that useless warranty. Worse, they then only offered me a loaner phone after I complained that their service was leaving me without any communication, and then tried to pass off a low end 2 year old model BB to me, when considering that all of my contacts would then have to be re-entered by hand since everything was now Google Android synced. After making a stink about it, they relented, gave me some story that they were going to do me a special favour, and then loaned me an old discarded android phone. After THAT, I still had to get the SIM card changed TWICE. For some reason it would work for about a month and then suddenly fail and needed replacement. That was just a hassel, but at least the current card is so far holding steady. I don’t know if this is just how this shop is, or is this indicative of how Telus is, but either way, I’m way less than impressed. For now I’m on a contract, so there’s not much I can do but hope that once I’m out, I’ll see about getting away from Telus and ANY product that Tom Harris Cellular offers, and do my best at any opportunity to ensure that others steer away too.
