«Welcome Wagon» is such a cutesy well known way to announce yourself at a friend’s door in a high pitched voice(nothing I would do of course!) BUT how often do you go to a friends’ door with a basket full of goodies? This is what happens when you move to a new city, new community and have them come by and see you! They really are worth having out to your home, even if you just moved across town. The ladies(men too?) are very professional, respectful in your home and are a lot of fun — after all — they are people-persons and have to be bubbly and kind to get sponsers for their baskets! They know their assigned areas and can tell you where the parks and trails are, the restaurants, the spas, etc. The baskets come with a lot of info and lil treats for you to keep; toothbrushes from local dentists, tea from a health network biz, water bottle from the gym, piggy banks from investors etc etc. OK, OK, SOME of the paper is going to go into the recycling box but it is quite nice of someone to come to us to tell about options in our new neighbourhood and I was very appreciative! Also included are coupons and discounts to places we may not have ever known about. What a great service for Calgary or any city. Thanks Val for tonight’s visit! You were wonderful!

Until I moved to my current neighborhood, I’d never experienced a visit from the Welcome Wagon before. When the WW Representative knocked on my door, I was so shocked and then excited that I didn’t know what to do with myself. The fact that a stranger called WW to have me greeted in my new neighborhood is just an awesome feeling. This may sound totally cheesy, but I don’t care. A basket full of local advertising and samples to sort through is fun for me. If you see someone moving in to your ‘hood or if you are moving out and someone is replacing you, I encourage you to call WW and send them over. It’s just a nice gesture. And, I actually inquired about a rep job because I thought it would be fun to give someone the surprise rush that I got from a WW visit. The only reason I ended up not doing it is because they didn’t have any open positions in my quadrant of the city.
