Applebee’s

Even though they need a bigger lunch menus my visits to Applebee’s has Always been a pleasant experience. Food tasted great. Servers were fantastic. Atmosphere was always busy but not too loud. Their calimari was tasty and their chicken bites were yummy! Keep up the good work!

What we’ve ordered: Quesadilla burger, Cowboy Burger, Caesar Salad, Honey BBQ Chicken Sandwich, Roast Beef, Bacon & Mushroom Melt, Mango Iced Tea.
So far we have gone to Applebee’s twice, and this is one of our favourite restaurant’s to visit. Since our first visit, they’ve made changes to their already huge menu. It’s nice to eat there because even though it’s large, and most of time very busy, it’s always quiet.
Both times we’ve gone to Applebee’s, we’ve had a hard decision as to what we are going to order because they have such a large menu and so many unique menu options. The server’s seem to understand and give you enough time to have a good look over the menu before asking your decision. Initial drinks come quickly to the table, and what’s nice about Applebee’s is that they actually put the drinks at the front of the menu. Not enough places do this, you usually have to go searching near the back of the menu to find the selection of drinks, and you know they’re going to ask you this first. They are great with keeping up on refills as well. The menu options are reasonably priced across the board as well, they have lots of combos where you can choose 2 entrees and an appetizer for a discounted price, or add a salad or soup to your sandwich for cheaper. Even usually expensive meals like steak or seafood are priced comparably less expensive to other restaurants. The amount of appetizers available is substantial, there are even combos for these items as well, allowing you to choose small amount of multiple items to try or to share. Most of the items on the menu have a full colour photo for reference as well, which makes choosing a meal that much more difficult because everything looks excellent!
Seating is varied at Applebee’s; you can see a television from almost every seat in the restaurant. We prefer to sit in a booth anywhere we eat, but the booths are pretty uncomfortable at Applebee’s. They are at an awkward angle and very stiff. They don’t give much feet room underneath so we found ourselves kicking each other unintentionally. The servers that we had both times were almost too chatty; but if they fail to mention an appetizer to you, you get one for free. I like that the restaurant offers something like this to ensure that their service is up to par.
Once we decided on our meals, we did not have to wait long at all for our food to arrive. On both occasions, our food arranged hot and exactly as ordered. My Mango Iced Tea was slightly warm, but not enough to complain about. As a couple we decided to share our meals half and half, so we could explore more of the menu together. Our first meals were very good, the Cowboy Burger and the Quesadilla Burger. They were huge burgers, both left us feeling very full and the Quesadilla burger had an interesting mix of toppings and sauces. The second time, we were slightly let down with the size of the meals and the quality of the toppings. The Roast Beef sandwich looked phenomenal in the picture, but was rather lackluster in person. It was on regular toast, the roast beef wasn’t even as good as some fast food restaurants and the bacon was only lightly cooked and actually a choking hazard. The Chicken sandwich had minimal toppings, total lack of sauce and again the bacon was dangerous to eat (I did actually choke on this sandwich). Both meals that we had at Applebee’s were really lacking in salad, or anything as a side. We both felt tired of the taste of our meals and that’s what the side is for. But the tiny salad they give; although delicious and some of the best Caesar I’ve tasted, there are only a couple mouthfuls.
Applebee’s is a nice place to go, it’s a different alternative and the unique menu options, makes us want to return again and again. The multiple menu combo options are great for people on a budget and they have many healthy choices under a certain caloric intake. They have some great appetizers for eating out as a group and the atmosphere is relaxed and yet quiet enough to enjoy a quiet meal together. We recommend Applebee’s, it’s one of our favourites and we keep finding new options to keep us returning. The only thing that takes away from the overall score is really the lack of sides, but if you order an appetizer to share to accompany the actual meal, you should have no problem enjoying Applebee’s as much as we do!

They are located in the same vicinity of Cambridge Centre, tons of parking space. Went in a group of 2, we did the 2 for $ 25 deal, which included 2 main entrees and 1 appetizer. The spinach & artichoke dip was great and already very filling.
We also got the 2 pastas that were featured (Meatball & Cajun Shrimp). I asked for less spice in mine, and I was amazed by the service they provided for this — the manager personally came out to tell me how they changed up the pasta to suit my tastes, and came around another time to ask if I liked it. Both dishes were delicious, and the portions were very big.
Our waitress was friendly and the overall service makes me want to go back there again.
