Spent a pleasant Sunday afternoon enjoying the baths and saunas with my wife. While we’re not«spa people», the Amerispa in Cantley is thoroughly enjoyable. It was very quiet; we felt we had the entire place to ourselves at times — just the way we like it. We had a delicious lunch in the restaurant, splitting a grilled pesto chicken sandwich and fresh green salad: it was a generous portion and great value. Though I did have to send back my draft beer which arrived warm(no problem with the second pour). This is a great alternative to the hassles you get at Chelsea’s Le Nordik, though the Amerispa owners need to keep an eye on detail. A deep cleaning to remove a ring of grime around the pools would be in order. The staff are very pleasant too, and were helpful in locating a pair of sunglasses I had left behind. Check out the very reasonable prices — a full day is $ 44 and evenings are only $ 34(+ tax) for access to the baths. Three– and 6-month memberships are great deals for regulars.

Tired of the hustle of the super busy Spa Nordik in Celsea where all the Ottawa yuppies hang out and talk like valley girls? Come to this Amerispa in Cantley! The restaurant’s menu sucks so bring some snacks for after soaking. Maybe bring ear plugs if you want quiet time. Like its competition in Chelsea, this spa isn’t too keen on taking a stand on loud gossippy girls and couples. BUT, it’s cheaper and less crowded than the other spa. Its hammam(turkish wet spa) is gorgeous, large and clean. There’s lots of wide sturdy hammocks for rocking in the sunshine, in the summer. In the winter, there’s a nice fire inside the large lodge, but beware, sometimes people hog it a little bit. There’s another room, the yoga room, where lounge chairs are with a gas fireplace. It’s quietest there and so nice, the view. ps, ladies/gentlemen who need to talk at the spa… stay home. Or go to the restaurant! Or your car. In a world of shouting and constant talking and information, just hush. It’s nice, and it’s better if you focus on your body and relaxing. I always bring a book to entertain myself. It can be hard to be silent, but just do it… or stay the fuck home! No one wants to hear you say: it’s soooooo hot in this hot tub! … my neck hurts … ohhhhh this one is very cold … I’M SWEATING! … etc pps, they provide the robe and one small towel. I sometimes bring an extra towel. You can buy flips flops for like $ 10 or something.
