Le sigh. The most frustrating part about writing a 2 star for this little terminal, is that I quite like this ferry. Actually, it happens to be my favourite ferry to get to SSI and I’ve written a Unilocal love story in the past to attest to this. The trip is longer, at least one hour so, but the crowds are smaller, the scenery is great and you don’t have to deal with a transfer. So why the low rating? Because all the positive happens once you get ON the boat. Ok so I might be a little sour, seeing as though this past holiday weekend I got turned away from this ferry. As a FOOT passenger. But here’s the snuff to my huff: 1. They only open the ticket counter 20 minutes prior to boarding, which means on holiday weekends, those people who have their butts in gear to get there early, ultimately end up in the same boat as the rest of us who barrel in at the last minute. 2. I saw them turn away a father, who had purchased tickets for his three kids previously. Why he didn’t purchase his ticket at the same time, who knows but really? You’re going to deny one tickets and have a family miss their trip home AND waste the money of three others? Tsk tsk. I understand safety regulations but if ONE extra man is going to sink the boat… 3. Long weekend or no, this ferry leaves at the most inopportune times of the day — ie. 7−9am and 3pm. Or 7pm. At first I thought this was for the commuters, but even on that theory, this schedule is nonsensical. You have to dutifully plan your day around these ones. All in all, it’s a little too much work for a laid back little gulf island terminal. If you can make it worth, it’s the prettier trip home, but be warned — it’s a tricky devil.
