Chelsea Pub

Good: beer on tap, burgers.
Bad: service, prices, fries.
Bottom line — will not be back.
We came in on a spring Saturday for lunch. The place was conveniently located at the entrance to Parc Gatineau.
We waited a bit to be seated, ordered, got my beer, and then the serving staff disappeared. About 40 minutes later we got our burgers, asked for water, and the serving staff disappeared again. no water. All three burgers (veggy, beef, and wild boar) were very good, yet a bit salty. The fries looked good, but were served cold. and salty. and no water came. we asked 3 times from different servers and waited about 15 minutes before getting water. I had beer to wash down the saltiness, but my companions really wanted water! No one bothered to ask if our meals were good. When a waitress showed up to clean our table she did not wonder why half the fries were left uneaten. For these prices — I’ve had much better food and better service. For summary: Meh!

Wow, a pub just outside of Le Nordik Spa, along the Gatineau Park area. What a treat!
At a first glacé, you immediate assume this pub is going to offer your regular fixings, but upon looking at the menu, you’ll surely think differently! I was amazed at the different things on the menu that exceeded the regular pub standards. Everything was pub-​ish, but elevated using influences from other cuisines.
We ordered: Duck Pot Pie w/​Arugala Salad, The Oliexer burger, and Seafood Gnocchi, and the Poutine on the specials of the day.
All of which came out great. The burgers were especially our favourite, Juicy and full of flavour!
The duck pot pie was especially interesting, I liked that they cooked down the duck so it was tender and tasty in the pie. The seafood gnocchi was especially memorable, it was a giant sized portion enough for 2 separate meals, and they were not shy with the seafood toppings.
The service here was great from the start, everyone was helpful, and very friendly.

Enjoyed an amazing lunch at this awesome pub on a Sunday afternoon. My husband had a delicious duck cassoulet and I loved the seafood gnocchi so much. Tender bits of lobster and great shrimp, cooked just right. Perhaps the best part of lunch, though, was the very attentive service from Philippe and Eric. They genuinely seemed to care that we had a great experience. Highly recommend a visit!

We stopped in for a beer. They have a long list of choices, but also a number of home brews. We both had their IPA and thought it was excellent. But we also decided to have a snack and so browsed the menu. One that caught my eye was a mini baked brie with caramelized onions and croutons. So what would you expect if you ordered that? I expected a 2−3″ cheese with some onions and a few pieces of crispy bread. Instead, we were served a 3″ brie on a 12″ plate that was loaded with what seemed like a whole baguette of croutons and a large delicious salad. There was a generous portion of caramelized onions and a delicious maple glaze. It was an ample snack for both of us.
Excellent service. Nice ambiance.

I really like coming here when their patio is closed. During the summer, this place is hopping busy, and for good reason. It’s a great place to go The menu covers a lot of ground but the times that I’ve eaten here in the summer, the food was mediocre and the service unnecessarily slow.
But in the winter months? The food is excellent. This is pub food but done a few notches up. Their poutines are excellent as are their hamburgers. (And I hate hamburgers). It is great to come in to a pub where families sit around big tables, skiers come in, or a couple eats in the corner. The beer selection is excellent and the food is made with heart. The service here is never very fast, but somehow the kitchen gets the orders out quickly.

Nous avons passé une très bonne soirée sur la terrasse du Chelsea pub! On commence par des bières de microbrasserie faites sur place, mention spéciale pour l’IPA! Avec en accompagnement le brie au four avec pomme et pacanes parfait pour l’apéro.
J’ai pris la salade di parma avec les chips de procciuto. C’était vraiment bon. Mes parents ont mangé le burger au porc effilocé et la salade d’epinard au saumon fumé, ils étaient très satisfaits. Niveau rapport qualité-​quantité-​prix, ce restaurant a tout bon. De plus, nous sommes très satisfait du service.

This place is AWESOME. Ate here a couple months ago after snowshoeing in Gatineau park on a freeeeeezing cold day.
I had the seafood linguine and it totally hit the spot. Who would’ve thought a pub would do pasta so well??? It seriously was one of the better pastas that I’ve ever had. I saw a lot of people ordering burgers and I definitely want to try those next time. Fries look delicious too.

Love this place. One of the best beer selections around. Very, very good food. The atmosphere is lively and fantastic. Poutine is the way to start. Despite the fact that it’s in Quebec, languages here are not a barrier and the menu is bilingual.
Some nights there is live music.

Terrasse extra, belle et animée, choix de bière qui fait chaud au coeur, cela mérite 4 étoiles. ! Côté assiette, c’est correct, mais né mérite pas la 5e. Méchant burger ok, sans plus, frites acceptables. Un bon moment néanmoins. Oh, j’oubliais. Les enfants sont bienvenus, le service super sympa.

Hubs and I came here and sat on the patio on a lunch date. It has a great ambience as it is surrounded by trees in the pictoresque village of Old Chelsea. The décor is nicely done too, particularly in the new section. The old section was run down but did have its charm.
It is nice to be able to order a local brew. Their brews are from Gainsbourg, their sister pub in Vieux Hull from the same owner. I enjoyed the Blanche de Chelsea. It is a light, smooth and citrus-​y, which is perfect for a warm summer day!
I ordered one the moroccan fried cod with fries. It is supposed to be an alternate to the fish and chips but with spices. I could hardly taste the spices and the fish was mostly too well done. It could have used a sauce too. I ended up using the mayonnaise (initially for the fries).
My husband ordered the «Méchant Burger» with a side of salad and really enjoyed it.
Service was excellent. Our waitress was courteous and drinks and food came in a timely manner. I would come again for the excellent ambience.

After an invigorating hike in Gatineau park we had worked up a massive appetite, and the Chealsea Pub resolved that problem very well! The pub has ample seating and a charming atmosphere. We had a dog with us and the staff were very accommodating, seating us on the patio with a shaded area for the dog to lie in.
They have a very long list of beers on tap, delicious lemonade, and a bunch of tempting cocktails for the thirsty customer. The food menu lists some of the most delicious grilled cheeses I’ve ever come across — like duck con fit! I had the wicked burger which came with a mountain of fries.
All in all, I’d happily return to this pub again. It’s great for a wind down after a long hike.

Great place in Chelsea. We — from the Netherlands — feel all French British mixed up all the time here :) First time poutin ever and I must say it beats all Dutch ‘Patatjes Oorlog’ (Fries Warzone) :) the waitress had a poutin once in Amsterdam, which was hilarious to us. We live around the corner.

Nice place in the tiny town of Chelsea. Great terrace — probably one of the best in Outaouais. Food is good and service is attentive.

Located on what might be the main Chelsea strip is a little log cabin type pub. If the parking lot is full you’ll have to park down the street as there is little parking at the pub itself.
The pub reminds me of a log cabin with a built in fireplace and a good amount of space. The space is big and depending which side of the pub you’re in it can be either cozy and tight or in an area that’s brightly lit with windows all around.
On this trip on a cold fall rainy day we were sat by the washrooms which is on the cozy side of the place. I was so close to the table behind us that every time the man behind me moved he bumped me. Awesome/​
Looking at the menu I could see it was the typical pub fare and the menu items had a little french twist in a lot of their foods. I say ask what’s in your food if you have any foods you don’t eat as not everything is explicitly stated on the menu. I decided to go with the stew as it seemed like the right choice.
The stew came out and it looked delicious. My friends sandwich also looked delicious and another friend ordered the stew as well. Neither of the dishes were delicious. The sandwich was ok… it wasn’t bad but far from writing home about and exactly what you might expect from any run of the mill pub. The meat in my stew was really dry. I was hoping for slightly better but it wasn’t. I have to note that bacon was in the stew and I love bacon. However I do know some people don’t eat it for personal reasons and it’s not obvious from the description that this was there.
They have a great selection of beer and the ambiance is pretty cool. I just wasn’t a fan of the food.
