The sign says 24, but now, alas, a surprise! 6 more flavours! Red Café was a lovely pit stop from driving along the Trans Canada Highway, a respite from the grind of driving and a pleasant surprise amidst a gas station and, strangely, another ice cream store. They do have hard ice cream, a case from Foothills Creamery, but the name of the game here is the soft serve, a creamy vanilla base with your choice of flavour syrups whipped in. I was initially concerned about synthetic syrups as a flavouring, but I was convinced by spirited counter staff and smiles from my dining companion who competently and quickly enjoyed her cup of chocolate. While Chemanius is not on my regular routes, if I do find myself out in these parts, I know how a place to have my dairy confection needs met on the picturesque Highway 1.
