After my mother being told of a British store in Chilliwack I googled it and found 2 read reviews and thought this one would be great from the reviews it sounded like the one my mom was told about the other had negative reviews so I said we were going to the British empire, well don’t trust reviews because it was all wrong this one was ok it was a much smaller store than expected and well boring but they did have some good products there the lady working was a it pushy trying to sell us things we don’t want, my family’s from the uk and it’s not the kind of British I’m used to, they are less mannered than the British I’m used to but that’s no big deal it just wasn’t the way it sounded, so we ended up at the place that had negative reviews and it was everything we wanted plus more so be careful trusting reviews! Maybe British empire is better now as this is based on 2 years ago but I’m not gonna bother checking

Had fish & chips. Fish was ordinary, nothing special, chips were undercooked and soggy. Wife had a scone, also ordinary. Not a terrible place to eat, but we won’t be coming back.

Omg, I don’t think I have ever been so unimpressed with a restaurant establishment… While getting our new tires put on, my fiancé suggested going for dinner at a restaurant called«British Empire Café» right here in Chilliwack. When we were ordering, I asked if the chicken and vegetable pie was like a regular chicken pot pie, and the waitress said yes. She then asked if I wanted it with beans, mushy peas or mashed potatoes(I could barely understand her british accent). When I said mashed potatoes, she said«well it’s going to take 15 extra minutes»… So then I asked her if the beans came with meat in them(she looked at me like I was stupid… Clearly some people don’t know that in Canada, French Canadians have a very common breakfast accompaniment called«fèves au lard»(baked beans that have pork mixed in… heinz even makes it…) Anyways, I proceeded to ask her if mushy peas were just mashed up green peas… I’ve never been to England, and even though I could have assumed it was, I thought I would ask anyways, just to double check. Again, she looked at me like I was the greatest idiot. I ordered the beans, and we waited for our order. As I was waiting, I could here her talking to one of her coworkers by laughing at me saying omg, I said chips this girl said fries… Hahaha She asked if a chicken vegetable pie was a chicken pot pie hahaha… Then she asked if the beans had meat in them hahaha… The coworker then responded what, why would she care if she is having a chicken pie she is not vegetarian hahaha… SOMEPEOPLEEATCHICKENBUTNOTREDMEAT. They weren’t just giggling, they were legit laughing histerically and the only other table in the restaurant could hear them. Note to the wise: If you plan on establishing a decent clientele, how about you don’t laugh histerically at your customers right in front of them for using fairly common Canadian regionalisms… We walked right out, waved good bye, and went to another British restaurant right up the street. Ain’t gettin’ no business from this girl OR her fiancé who lives for Fish and Chips…

Perfect for those last minute items for your Doctor Who party like Jammy Dodgers or crisps. Look for the TARDIS in the shop.
