My girlfriend and I thought we would do a little wine tour today in the Cobble Hill area of Vancouver Island. Our first stop was here at Glenterra Vineyards, just off of the highway on Cobble Hill Rd. We also noticed that there was a café attached to the vineyard, Thistles Café, and thought we might have a small snack while there. We have a small Service dog with us of which we forgot to put his vest on, but we carry all his credentials and paperwork if questioned, so we did not drive back to our place to grab his jacket. When we entered the winery at aprox. 2PM I said hello to a women who was behind a counter, busy with something, and she told us that she would go tell someone(she did give us a name but I have forgotten it) that we were here and tell him we would like to do a tasting. A few moments later a man came out of the back and we exchanged hellos and I asked, «So whatcha got?», just to get the ball rolling on some information on the wines available. He replied,” Wine.” With a deadpan delivery… and pushed one of the wine menus in front of me. And before I could even get another question out about the first wine on his list, he said, «You can read it in front of you…». Well, needless to say we left, and quite frankly will never return. I am guessing that the vineyard is so wildly successful that no further business is needed. We visited Silverside Winery just down the street next, for a wonderful time with an informative and delicious tasting of which we bought a bottle. Review of which will be posted.
