I’ve eating here for over 2 years now. Probably 20+ times. Never have we had a bad meal. Always have specialty rolls, sushi and hand rolls. Haven’t strayed to other items. Sushi is always fresh, service is always great.

This place has the best Sushi. It’s always fresh, flavourful and tasty. Service is great. I haven’t found a better restaurant in all my travels.

Best sushi I’ve had in Collingwood. Their fish is fresh and great cuts. The hamachi neki maki was one of the best I’ve ever had. Also loved the spicy tuna maki. The tamagoyaki was a little sweet, but the texture was nice and the pieces were well portioned. A bit on the pricier side but I’ll gladly pay it for quality. Sumo, you have a new fan!

This is a very nice restaurant that is certainly upping the sushi game in Collingwood. The sushi is not quite at the level of the GTA’s best but good nevertheless. We had to wait 15 minutes on a Saturday night but once we got seated, service was fast and very friendly. We got the sushi combos and the portions were more than adequate. Some of the other tables got the boats and they are also generous portions. I would certainly return to explore the menu further.

Me and three of my friends are here for lunch. I ordered beef udon. I swear there are less than 5small pieces of beef and 10 strips of noodles. It has no taste at all. Not recommended.

It was okay. Good service but sashimi boat was sub par. Did not need reservations, clean restaurant.

Very popular. For good reason. Good, fresh, quality sushi. Plan ahead… this place is busy.

We ordered the chicken katsu and green dragon roll. The chicken katsu was cooked very well, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The green dragon roll was delicious, with thinly cut avocado to top the sushi roll. I would recommend this japanese restaurant to any visitors in the Collingwood area. Service was prompt, and the restaurant itself is actually a cute house converted into a restaurant.

The food is delicious and my husband always enjoys the sushi thoroughly. We have been four or five times and have always felt that we received good value for our money and above-average service. One caveat: it is a small place. If you want a quiet dinner and a boisterous little crowd comes in, be prepared to share the supper hour with them! Well worth the effort to go, in my opinion.

Overall my experience was good. The food was mostly amazing. The service was good. We tried this sweet potato noodle dish and crab meat salad that we had never seen before. Both were amazing. In fact the entire meal was enjoyable, until we got our lobster tempura. I am a big fan of lobster and had never tried it this way before. I wouldn’t recommend it. Deep frying it takes away the flavor and texture that make lobster what it is. I’ve tried crab tempura before and felt the same way about that. Lobster and crab were just not meant to be deep fried. Now, if that was all I had to say then I would of easily given this place 4 stars. However, the lobster tempura wasn’t done with me. Besides being bland and unimpressive the last piece I bit into had that vein. You know the one. Gordon. Ramsay calls it the sh*t sac. I was disgusted. I was literally served crap. Thankfully I noticed before I swallowed that bite and was able to spit it out into my napkin. To their credit the restaurant did apologize and gave us free dessert. However, even if they had given us the whole meal for free it wouldn’t have made up for that disgusting feeling. Everything else was delicious though. I would return if I lived here. I would just not ever order lobster tempura again.

Very decent vegetarian options! I ordered a vegetarian maki combo(18 pieces + salad + soup), it was three varieties of maki, very fresh and tasty and only $ 12 Highly recommend this place!

Me and my boyfriend were craving for some sushi when we were up in Collingwood during the weekend. The Hungry Sumo was only 1 km away from our hotel so we decided to try it out based on the 2 good reviews on Unilocal. The Hungry Sumo is a restaurant in a house… something I’ve never seen before. Service from the server was pretty decent during our entire stay. However, our orders took a while to arrive. We ordered an order of salmon sashimi, the green dragon roll, the spider roll, and the spicy salmon roll. The salmon sashimi didn’t taste fresh and it tasted as if it was in the fridge for a while. The rolls were pretty good though. I’ve been to so many sushi restaurants in Mississauga that The Hungry Sumo doesn’t even stand up to the rest.

Ate here once with the gf during a weekend getaway to Blue Mountain. The servings are good even if it is priced quite high compared to Japanese restos in Toronto/GTA. Tempura dinner had salad and miso soup included. Gf ordered a sushi dinner and the fish was fresh. Fish to rice ratio was borderline acceptable. however, i still see this as a steal compared to the sushi place located at Blue Mountain village. Service was great so I added an extra star
