I like air planes. I like museums. I really like it when the two come together and the Comox Air Force Museum is a great example of just that. While the Comox museum may not rival the Smithsonian Air & Space museum, it does have an excellent collection of artifacts and exhibits that are well maintained and organized in a coherent and thoughtful manner. Admission is by donation, which makes the museum a cost-effective way to entertain your family while still learning about Canadian history. Along with the main exhibit hall, the museum maintains a heritage air park where you’re able to get up close to vintage aircraft. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even provided me with batteries for free when my camera unexpectedly died. I would have liked to spend more time at the museum however my girlfriend’s enthusiasm for aviation history had worn out, and we had other Canada Day activities to take in.
