Gave Cookstown Pub a chance since the Iron Horse was over crowded. This place pales in comparison to Iron Horse. The clam chowder was definitely chunky soup. Ordered «hot» wings that had zero flavour. Had to get a side of hot sauce to dunk them into. Also the wings were not cooked enough. Bones were bloody and cold. Pic attached. Service was fine even though it was busy. But the food is mediocre at best. Don’t think I will be going back. Definitely hit the iron horse if you need to eat in Cookstown.

We love this place. Great people, great food, nice hometown pub atmosphere, My wife and I try to go as often as we can. It is/​was our favourite place between Bradford and Barrie hands down. We Loved mussel night, steak night, always had a good selection of drafts (I love the Sam Adams). We recently moved south, but look forward to when we can stop in again. Hardly ever left disappointed there. Maybe once or twice with the quality of the wings or nachos that night. But that’s it. Out of many visits. Also loved the sticky toffee pudding for desert. Hope to be back again Soon.

A very pleasant surprise! Moved into Cookstown a while back, and wandered in in need of a pint and some basic «pub-​grub.» Have to say that this place more than exceeded my expectations! A small-​to-​medium, unpretentious place, but the food is excellent!
Menu includes standard pub stuff — wings, burgers, etc, none of which disappoint. The pleasant surprise is how they manage to go beyond standard pub fare… and do it very well indeed! Special mention goes to the Friday night specials — get the mussels in the cider/​bacon sauce!
Beer and alcohol selection is good… I’m eagerly waiting for the Alexander Keith’s sales rep to get his head out of his a_​_​, so they’ll have Keith’s back on tap, but if I have to take it from the bottle for now, so be it.
The staff are very friendly — full marks to Cheryl, Terry and the crew.
In a nutshell, a great local watering hole where you won’t leave thirsty or hungry! Well done.
