One of my favourite places to eat at! It’s usually quite busy whenever I go too, but the wait is worth it. The service and food also come very fast, although the portions look like an okay amount. You’re always bound to leave feeling very full, the soup that they serve there is also one of my favourites and one of the reasons why I go so often. The prices of everything on the menu are also really reasonable! Especially the Kimbap because thats enough to fill you up and keep you going for the day(though I usually order 1 and take 1 to-go.) Highly recommend!

Haven’t had a good kim bab in a long while… probably the last time was from the H-Mart on Robson and that was… well not very good lol. The price here for kim bab ranges from 3.45−3.99 which is VERY reasonable and they’re pretty big! If you get maybe 2 or 3, that’s an entire meal right there! I got the regular kim bab(3.45) and it was tasty! Surprisingly, there’s no meat in it as it’s been replaced by tofu, yet you won’t ever notice! It’s very well marinated and combined with the excellent seaweed wrapping and the rice with the perfect consistency, it’s a damn satisfying little snack/meal! You also get a little silver tea pot that has not tea, but soup! It was very tasty in its own light. kind of reminded me of pork broth with a strong ricey taste to it. Would definitely recommend!

Came here for lunch with my family. The restaurant was full of customers. The server asked us to wait for 10 mins. It was alright. The wait was not long and we got a table very soon. The size of the restaurant was not too big, so a couple servers were good enough to serve the customers. They were quite fast taking orders, bringing food to the tables, and taking care of the customers’ needs at the same time. The food was quite good and very authentic. Most of their dishes were spicy. If you couldn’t handle the spicy food, you might want to order less spicy. We ordered cold noodles, rice in soup and rice in a hot pot as well as a Korean roll. Everything was quite good. I think the cold noodles were the most spicy dish. The server gave us a stainless steel kettle with soup. They served cups of soup instead of tea. It was quite interesting! The bill was about $ 35 including tax plus tip. It was quite cheap comparing to other Korean restaurants. This restaurant is located on North Road in Coquitlam. There are many Korean restaurants. This restaurant must keep up their good work in order to compete with others. I liked this restaurant and the food and would like to come back to try other dishes.

This is the best place eyou can get kimbab from. The homemade kimbab they sell is as close as you would get from your Korean friend’s mom. A small restaurant, it is modelled after snack places you’d find on the streets all over Korea, which makes me miss my time when I was there. The ingredients taste so fresh and are very well made, not only that, the pricing is also affordable. Affordable because it is set for snacking really. Better to have a healthy snack here than Mcdonalds burgers. Since it is a small place, seating might be a problem on busy times. For non-Koreans, this place might be a bit discouraging, however, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Althought their specialty is Kimbab, they also serve equally delicious, affordable and homemade-tasting foods such as ramen noodles, cold noodles, bibimbap(rice stone pots), spicy rice cakes, pork bone soup. etc. Looking forward to visit again!

YESYESYES!!! Love this place. So much!!! Kimbap Cheonguk is a total hidden gem. Korean restaurants are a dime in a dozen in Coquitlam, but KC is definitely one of the standouts! Everything on the menu is super delish and homey tasting. And on top of that, everything is under $ 10!!! Their famous for their kimbap, which is seriously some of the best we’ve ever had. They also serve you their amazing garlic soup in a kettle(for free!!!) AWESOME!!! Their stonepot pork is also really yummy! And the ricecakes are a must order!

Another late-breakfast/early-lunch enjoyed recently. We(senior couple) arrived at the restaurant at 10am, and at this time, were only able to choose what to order from their list of kimbabs, and three other dishes(two ramens, and one rice dish). As indicated in my previous review, their full menu of offerings is not available until after 11am. This was not a problem for us, we were well-aware of this going in, and were prepared to only have the limited menu at the time we chose to dine there. We were hungry, and knew they would have something for what we were still calling«breakfast», and were sure not disappointed! What we ordered and shared — something ‘old’, something ‘new’ — both so good! — kimbabs — we chose ‘regular’ this time — rice and laver seaweed coverings, with centers of carrot, cucumber, fish cake, burdock, egg, and yellow radish — so fresh, well-prepared, tasty delights — yum! — jang teo gook bab — a hot bowl, rice dish — with sprouts, green onion, radish, shitake mushroom, garlic, beef, rice, and taro stem — a well-prepared, hot and rather spicy(just ‘perfect’ for us), much-enjoyed, taste treat! For us, Kimbab Cheonguk did it again! With their friendly, helpful service, and tasty, well-prepared Korean fare, another much-enjoyed dining experience at this great little place in our neighbourhood!

I love this place. My only qualm is that it closes at 8pm! The items you cannot go wrong with: kimbabs(aka«Korean sushi») make sure you get the Tuna and the Bulgogi! It’s about 12 pieces per roll, and around $ 4.00! Pair it with some pickled radish, and you have yourself a pretty decent meal. My boyfriend and I also get the um. spicy ramen with rice cake?! I wish I could remember the Korean name, but honestly, we just ordered by number and picture. But trust me!

Seriously one of the best Korean places I’ve been to. Unlike basically all of the Korean restaurants I’ve been to, it has a unique beef bibimbap and ra bokki which is to die for omg. I couldn’t stop eating the ra bokki even though it was really spicy for me. It’s definitely a must eat here! They also have a soup that they serve in a kettle at the beginning and its good as well! The store is pretty small but usually it’s always packed with people and have long waiting lines.

Seriously good. And cheap! I always order their kimbaps although in some occasions I would order their other menus too, but mostly I only order their kimbab. For only about 3bucks, I can get one roll of kimbap and its already fulfilling for me. Sometimes they also serve the garlic soup in a kettle; it tastes SOGOOD!

The first time I had Kimbap was surprisingly(for some) in Calcutta, India. I was 15 years old and on a particularly balmy summer day at lunch break, a friend and I decided to return to our classroom unusually early before the bell. One quiet South Korean girl would often eat her lunch in the classroom alone and so we naturally fell into conversation with her. She politely offered us a bite of her lunch(as is the custom in India — and I assume S. Korea). She had brought what I then thought was a kind of homemade Korean sushi but now know as Kimbap. It was a mouthful of bliss and I’ll never forget the taste — the burst of fresh cucumber, the flavour of the rice and the seaweed. I wish I could do it justice by describing it but I cannot. Does the Kimbap at Kimbap Cheonguk live upto this first impression? It does not. It is nowhere nearly as delicious as I remember my first Kimbap to have been but it was still very good. I prefer the original Kimbap to the bulgogi. We got both. My bf got the naeng-myeon(I’m not sure which one) and we both absolutely loved it. However, it was rather too spicy for its size(we are mainly used to Indian spices which are very different and less overwhelming) and we’d have to eat it in installments. I don’t mind because this was so good. The kimchi was delicious but I’ve rarely ever had bad kimchi. I also love the utensils we were served in — the thick metal glasses, a strange metal bowl/pan/pot(not sure what to call it) etc gave everything a very vintage Asian feel and I especially loved the sliding cart which they used to serve the food. I really felt like I was in Asia and the service was still attentive enough. This place is great and I’ll definitely go back.

Good korean street foods! Gimbaps are always great(especailly ordering takeouts for roadtrips!). I have not yet found a better place for NaengMyun other than this place. One downside is that the sitting is limited so during lunch hour there are always a long line up.

A friend swore that this place had the best kimbap. I ordered the bulgogi kimbap. It was my first time trying kimbap, and it was super tasty! And the serving size/price was unbeatable! My friend ordered a rice dish(can’t remember the name), which had some sort of fish, fish eggs, and veggies, served in a stonepot. She enjoyed her meal and had enough leftover to take home. Before our dishes arrived some garlicky soup was delivered to our table in a teapot. We didn’t really know what it was, but it was tasty and we drank it all. Carpe diem! The menu is in Korean, but has lots of pictures so it wasn’t hard to order. The waitress serving us was friendly but didn’t speak too much English — but enough to communicate orders. I will definitely be back! I noticed many of the other tables had ordered the blood sausage — next time I’ll have to try that!

* Continues to deliver! * I returned and they have consistently impressed me with the best kimbap I’ve had in the Vancouver area. Once again the rice was just the right consistency with a hint of sesame oil. The fillings were changed up a little bit from last time and this time included carrots, cucumber, danmuji, and egg in the plain version and some bulgogi in addition in the beef version. The nori was nicely roasted with a hint of sesame oil rubbed on the outside. The rolls are still quite large and very reasonably priced at $ 2.99 for the plain and $ 3.50 for the beef. Photos: and and The dukbokki had a nice level of heat, and the rice rolls were perfectly chewy without being overcooked. The cabbage and onions lent a sweetness to contrast the spiciness of the chili sauce. Nice dish. Photo: Service continues to be extremely helpful and friendly — this place has the feel of a family restaurant and the family actually seems to get along! I’ll be back!
