Solid 3.5 stars, good service. open daily, 9am-11pm. Decent sized store, almost like a cold beer and wine but a bit bigger and better. Do carry Australian, as well as Italy. Good choice of chilled white wines, and went with the Pinot Grigorio. Don’t accept AMEX ;( plenty of free parking in this massive assortment of plazas beside each other. Just very convenient while you’re here and no need to fight traffic along Barnett or Lougheed.

Unfortunately unlike Roo’s pub the cold beer and wine store is lacking completely. When I first went to this store I didn’t even know it was associated with Roo’s because its a few blocks away, it wasn’t until I stopped being inept and read the giant ROO’S PRIVATELIQUOR painted across the windows till I clued in(duh). So not once not twice but the first three times I went here I had the same experience and that was enough for me to say«forget you guys» and that’s exactly what I did say to the person manning the till(not that he cared but it made me feel better). So here is how it goes I get there and its usually a quick stop for me first thing Stolichnaya vodka 40 pounder. check. um wait where is the Stoli??? «oh we don’t have that in right now only in a mickey bottle, you could buy a couple to equal the amount. Odd i thought to myself I have never had this problem before. Alright I suck it up and stop being a snob Smirnoff ??? «Only in a mickey right now» … oh. Flavored… «no». Grey Goose? Silent Sam? Absolute? No no no. Okay this is ridiculous, now not only am i frustrated I am also confused. Girlfriend would like some Kahlua. No only in a forty, interesting how the only thing I wanted a mickey of they only have a forty of and everything I want a forty or two six of they only have a mickey. Wow this place is like some kinda oddity … hmmm I will take the magical monkey paw and an eye dropper of absinthe please. Either way shopping here for liquor is like shopping in a crackheads cupboards for food. I asked them what the deal was with their stock, well actually the lack of stock and he told me they were waiting for an order to come in. Fine, good excuse I ate it up. Two weeks later same thing, same excuse. One month after that you know the drill. Alright I’m fed up I am never coming back, and I didn’t. A good thing that has come from this is that in desperation to find anything that I would like to sip on that night I discovered Woodstock bourbon and colas(yummmmm so good). Other than all of that if that wasn’t bad enough the cashiers forced stories and horrible laugh that he forces on you as you try to get the hell out of there as fast as you can are the icing on the cake. It is amazing to me how a cold beer and wine store owned by such a well run pub good be so poorly operated. Roo’s Private Liquor GETYOUR S*** TOGETHER!!!

Higher price than BCLC but that’s expected with a private liquor store. Roo’s has a smaller selection which(in my view) is higher quality. They pick the best brands to carry and give you good choices. The staff always seem to have great advice for what to choose when you tell them what you’re looking for. Their long hours mean the store is usually open even if you have a late night engagement or just need that extra bottle of wine. This is a great go to place when you want a quick stop in and/or good liquor advice. The BCLC store around here is in a parking lot riddled with speed bumps and plagued by bad parking. Roo’s is in a nice lot with plenty of space and no speedbumps — a big thing for me.
