We’ve tried this place a few times, but it just keeps being mediocre. We’d rather go into Halifax and eat at Mary’s(the one on Robie), where the food is excellent.

Excellent! Amazing food with outstanding flavour and equally matched value for money. Customer service is fantastic — the lady on the phone was so nice and patient with me(I had a bunch of people in the background shouting and changing orders on me as this poor lady was trying to write it all down) and so pleasant in person when I came to pick it up. I was so happy with how I was treated and with how the food tasted as it hit my taste buds when I got home. Ali’s, you’ve got a customer for life. Thank you!

TOBEAVOIDED — I visited Ali’s for the first time based upon the rave reviews online. Ordered a «beef wrap» aka shawarma and got a pita that contained 90% lettuce/tomatoes some sauce and about two ounces of beef. It tasted terrible and not worth the price paid. Way overpriced. I also ordered a «classic» poutine and having lived in Quebec for over 10 years I am somewhat familiar with what a poutine should be. The fries were not fully cooked, cheese was not curds(which come with a classic poutine) and gravy was more like coloured water. Sure, I could have lodged a complaint but how I saw the woman working at the front treat other customers, didn’t want to have a battle on my hands. Too bad the mantra of Customer is always right certainly does not apply here. In summary, I am not a picky eater, however, overall, I was highly disappointed in the overpriced, lack of food quality and diligent food preparation as advertised. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. I really can’t understand how this restaurant has a five star rating…

If you love Shawarma, I mean really love Shawarma, then you need to run to Ali’s Seafood and Kabob Cuisine, in Westphal for a really treat. A friend told me about this place and he is spot on, the shawarma here is excellent. I suggest getting the Chicken Shawarma Plate. The chicken shawarma is topped with a thick, garlicky sauce that is amazing; I have it with lentil rice and caesar salad. The plate also comes with hummus, pita bread and pickled turnip. Ali cooks to order the chicken so it stays moist and keeps all the pop if the garlic and citrus marinade. The chicken is topped with this creamy garlic sauce that has a pungent, yet smooth flavour that makes you crave the next bite. The combination of the chicken and sauce paired with lentil rice, with its caramelized onions and tender, perfectly seasoned legumes, make an amazing combination, but don’t ignore the pickled turnip. The turnip with its mild flavour, yet crisp crunch and brightness of the vinegar really cuts through the garlic and adds a new dimension to the dish to create the perfect bite. The caesar salad is pretty standard and you can pick from other sides. The hummus and pita are a nice mild contrast to balance out the bold flavours of the shawarma. If you are a connoisseur of shawarma or wanting to sample it for the first time, you owe it to yourself to get some of the best and here is where you find it. Cheers!

Love this place. Great people, great food! Best hummus I have ever had, Khalid makes it himself. I usually get the chicken kabob platter which is fantastic. Fish is fresh, and the burgers are also great! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great fresh meal.

I am a big fan of this spot. My wife and I go at least 3 times a week! She loves the club house and I love the chicken shawarma. My daughter loves his fish and chips too. Its a very clean place and you get your money’s worth. I always recommend this spot to everyone! If you havent been there yet you should go, you will be pleasantly suprised. And dont forget to try his cheese rolls(highly additive).

I’ve eaten at Ali’s on a few occasions and have never been disappointed. This place is tucked away in Cole Harbour and was recommended to us by friends. The décor isn’t fancy, but the food is really good. The haddock tips are second to none. The fish is always very fresh and it never seems to be cooked in old oil. I’ve had the clams a few times and the large can be quite a challenge to put away. The chicken shwarma is maybe not quite as good as Ela’s but still pretty darn good. The owner most times takes a moment to come say hello and make sure we are happy with our food. It’s good to have a spot nearby you know that the food won’t disappoint and prices are very reasonable.

This place is great! I called because I read that they do delivery but apparently they don’t anymore, but we got an order for pickup anyway. We didn’t have a menu but the owner helped us navigate the menu over the phone and he was very kind and helpful! He had our food ready in five minutes — one chicken schwarma and one beef kebab platter. We tried a bunch of options, regular rice, lentil rice, tabbouleh, bean salad, and it was all SOGOOD. This was the best Lebanese food I have had in a long time, better than Ray’s, Snau Bar(RIP), and Kababji in my humble opinion :) my husbands only critique was that the kebab was a little thin, but he said it had great flavor, also the hummus was smooth and super garlicky(yum!) We are moving in two weeks so I can’t say I will be back, but definitely try this gem out!

Awesome spot! The service is always super friendly(helps that my next door neighbor is the owner!) and the food is quick and fresh. Such a great variety on the menu, there is literally something for everyone. Their seafood is amazing but my favorite is the Mixed Lebanese Platter which is easily enough food for 2 people or two meals for 1 person. We are lucky to have a great restaurant like this in the Westphal area for healthy, fresh, fast and reasonably priced food. Go try it if you haven’t already!

Tucked away in a Dartmouth plaza where Main Street meets the #7 Hwy, this place is easy to miss, but you’d be sorry you did. Such a diverse menu, from seafood to kabobs, and they deliver! My dine in experience was pretty cool. The place is nicely lit and clean. While I was waiting for my chicken shawarma wrap, they gave me a sample of their new soup to try. Very nice touch. They would get another star if they used environmentally friendly take away, styrofoam is SO out these days. I’ll be back!

In the short while they’ve been open, Ali’s has gone from being a ‘nice-to-have’ to a ‘would-be-sad-without’ which is my complicated way of saying: please never leave me, my sweet, wonderful purveyor of the strangest, awesomest collection of take-out options in the land! Lemme break it down for you: It’s getting late for a weekend dinner. Delivery will easily take an hour and arrive cold. You don’t want to get dressed or drive all the way downtown. But you also don’t want to eat loads of grease. But wait — what’s that off in the distance?! It’s Ali’s solving all your damn problems. I’ve only ever done take-out(which makes sense since my own living room is about two minutes away) and every order has been ready in about eight minutes. Delivery is available in the neighbourhood for orders over $ 25, but I suspect that would take a bit longer for obvious reasons. The menu is perfect for my household, including everything from shawarma and falafel platters, to wraps and club sandwiches, to hummus and baba ghanoush, to calamari and haddock, to poutine. Basically this means that my grease-loving counterpart can gorge to his heart’s content while I daintily snack on everything guaranteed to make my breath smell like a apartment building on the wrong side of the tracks. The veggie burger is the only item that’s disappointed so far. It was fine and okay on the taste spectrum, but just a bit dry and unremarkable. If they could snazz that up a bit, they’d be a solid five-star in my books.
