Bob’s & Bluebell Taxi

This is bar none the WORST can company I have ever had the pleasure of employing. Let’s cut straight to the chase: First these clowns have ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ odds of having a debit machine after a hardline verbal request, I mean I suppose it’s important to honor vintage practices, you know for no reason at all. Get real it’s 2016, the only person I expect to have more then ten dollars cash is my drug dealers drug dealer. Second, the Call Dispatch, or rather lack thereof. I called for a cab on a Friday night (in Cole Harbor) and waited on hold for twenty minutes before I hung up. Now it’s not like I’m on hold for the lone cab company in New York City after a Mets game, I’m calling fucking Bobs goddamn taxi in Dartmouth Nova Scotia, a city of 70,000 people. Twenty minutes? Jesus Christ if your plan was to have all your customers wait major fractions of hours, perhaps you better hire at least three semi-​literate high school dropouts.
Now I’m not going to sit here and satisfy your predetermined «3-​shitty-​thing-​review», but like any good high school essay (sorry dropouts, you won’t understand), this requires a fair conclusion:
FUCK Bobs and Bluebell Taxi, for the love of god please get Über to this city and get with the times.

I had an incident with a fellow cab driver today November 30,2015. at 6:45 pm. I was near my home picking up a prescription at Lawtons on Primrose Street when I cam out the door a female senior citizen was standing there with here groceries shivering from the cold –12 C .She told me she called cab, but it was not there and ask if i could driver her across the parking lot to Jackson Road. She told me she was a diabetic and need to get home fast. So put here groceries in my trunk and driver her the 5 minutes to her home. As I pulled in the drive way a Bob’s Taxi 112 pulled in behind me. I was opening the door for the lady. The driver got out of the car and demanded I pay him the fare. I told him politely «Please do not yell in front of the customer. I will talk to you after the customer is in the apartment.: He did not listen and stated to approach the customer and told her «she would never get another cab from bob’s taxi». I continued to help the lady up the stars and to her door and apologized for his actions. When I cam down to my cab he blocked my car. I treated to call the police and he backed out. I then reported it to 311. This driver they called «Paxx» Bob’s Car 112 has done this before and has gone unreported until now.

I have read horrible reviews about Bob’s & Bluebell Taxi but I spoke to two different ladies that work there and both were polite. Also, I ordered a cab a day in advance and it arrived within 5 minutes of the requested time. The cabi was a little «odd» but pleasant enough. Overall, it was an uneventful experience. It was a little more than I’d hoped to pay but I rarely need a cab and I could easily have spent the same amount of $ in much more more frivolous ways.

Cab driver 146 was so rude and unprofessional that we got him to let us out half way to our destination. The worst experience I have ever had in a taxi. Call any one other then this taxi service. I’m a man and could not imagine if my girlfriend had to be alone in a vehicle with this creep. Stay away!

So sorry to hear that Bob’s Taxi has a sexual predator working for them! Ladies stay away!!!

I never thought these cabs could get any worse but they did. Who hires drivers who don’t even know where they’re going? That’s your job, to know where you’re going. And then to have not one but two cab drivers be rude to me while my child is in the car is unacceptable.

Smell of smoke was so strong in cab. Didn’t bother entering address into Tom Tom. But God. Stench of smoke. Llppppoi

I just heard Bobs taxi got charged for racism in court on the radio today. If this is try my one star review stands. If untrue let me know an ill delete it.

Thanks for coming to get me today. With all the bad weather and crappy roads the drivers were still calm and pleasant even for a short run. Thank you for driving today.

This past Friday 20^th at around 4:45 Blue Bell Car #148 intentionally cut me off while pulling out nearly tearing off my mirror. I was already on the road and he deliberately and intentionally pulled out from the Tim Horton exit raced around me, crossing over the yellow line to cut me off.
I replied with honking my horn and he replied by giving me the finger down the whole street. I followed him to the intersection as it was the direction I was going and he proceeded to run a solid red light nearly having a head on with a apposing traffic.
This prick has has no business driving for you. This happened on Portland St. near Tim Horton intersection
I am not calling the whole company into question on this as I have used your services for years with little complaint. But when a driver makes such reckless and dangerous actions on the road something must be done.
Fire him and I will happily take down this review.

This company is horrible, hates handicapped people, and their guidedogs, their drivers are rude and abnoxious

I, like many others in this city, have a rather volatile relationship with Halifax’s cab drivers. This makes it very hard to commit to a single rating for Dartmouth-​based Bob’s and harder still to write a review that doesn’t delve into the whole slew of reasons why our cab industry is completely broken, backwards, and borderline unsafe regardless of what company you stick with.
But wait now, I *just* promised not to go down that rabbit hole.
If you take away only one thing from this review, let it be this: if you’re in Dartmouth during the daytime, Bob’s is the only cab company that will pick you up. You can call all the others but Bob’s will be the only one to say yes. This is good in that you can save yourself some phone calls and generally bet that whoever shows up knows their way around the Darkside, but very bad in that you really don’t have any options.
Dispatchers: I’ve had everything from a friendly dispather who remembered my general area based on my familiar phone number to another who said «call back later,» and hung up on me. See? It’s very hard to assign a star-​rating when *that’s* the range…
Drivers: well… you’ll find anything from friendly retirees who listen to classical music and love discussing education, to former drug dealers who «occasionally still dabble, just in case you’re looking.» For the most part though, I’ve never had to wait longer than 5 – 8 minutes when calling in the daytime and have even been able to rely on advanced bookings for early morning airport runs.
Price: if you nab a Bob’s cab during the free-​for-​all hours at night, there’s no cheaper way to get from Halifax to Dartmouth. Plus they won’t be as rude about crossing the bridge as the other companies. I’ve paid anywhere from $ 4 – 14 less when getting home with Bob’s compared to the competition. Still, it’s a total crapshoot as far as the extras are concerned (bridge tolls, extra passengers, luggage, etc.).

Dropping Bob’s a star because they charge an outrageous $ 2 service charge for using Visa! That really sucks when your actual fare is only $ 5.

Bob’s is my go-​to taxi company, since they“ll actually take the trip over to Dartmouth any time of day. I’ve actually had other companies turn me down, even though I live only a two minute drive from the McDonald bridge. Not cool other taxi companies, not cool.
As other reviewers have mentioned, service can be spotty, but I’ve only had one bad experience personally (rude driver). Fares are pretty standard, and I rarely have to wait long for a cab. Since I am so central in Dartmouth, I’m not sure if their response time is worse if you get further out from downtown.
Have to say, I’ll overlook a lot of things (especially when I need a ride late at night after being out with my girls) simply because I know a Bob’s taxi will take me home. Knowing I’ll be out of the cold and on the way home is worth the three stars, even with slightly shoddy service.
Wonder if this is why Bob’s has the Dartmouth monopoly — if other services refuse to take the trip over the bridge, I’m thinking Bob’s kinda deserves it.

I don’t get cabs very often but when I do, it’s usually Bob’s/Bluebell.
I’ve had good cab drivers and bad ones. Most are in the middle of the road and it’s somewhat subjective. Sometimes when I’ve wanted to talk, the cabbie didn’t. Sometimes when I wanted silence, the cabbie was talkative.
Fares are reasonable. I can’t speak to the response time since I live close to their main office and I usually get cabs at off-​peak hours.

Because they have the run of taxi service in Dartmouth they seem to think they can get away with whatever. Their customer service both on the phone and with their drivers is pretty awful. And this is if you can get them to answer their phone -.I’ve had it ring until it could ring no more on many occasions, or it just rings busy. How a cab company runs with just one dispatcher on at a time I’ll never know (if they have more than one it sure doesn’t seem to make a difference). There are a small handful of pleasant drivers, but the majority of them are unfriendly, even mean/​rude. And their cars are the same: some are good some not so much.
Unfortunately if you live in Dartmouth Bob’s & Bluebell are your only options… and neither are really good options.

Good cars and bad cars. Good drivers and bad drivers. Bob’s taxi has them all. They pretty much hold the monopoly on the Dartmouth cab service owning both Bob’s and Bluebell taxi services. Maybe that’s why they are not as focused on customer service as they could be.
Average wait time… about 10 – 15 mins for your cab if you’re in the ‘burbs of Dartmouth. They except credit cards but will charge you $ 1 «processing fee» to use it. Flat rates are usually available if you’re taking a trip into Halifax, so ask your driver about it.

This poor review isn’t so much for the speed/​efficiency etc of this cab company but rather their total lack of awareness with regard to SHARING THE ROAD.
On several occasions now (3 – 4) I have had my elbows brushed or had to swerve towards the ditch (which you’ll notice currently consists of 2 – 3 feet of thick frozen ice at the moment in Halifax) in order to avoid a run in with one of Bob’s cabs. What’s the deal Bob?
So for those of you who bike, beware Bob’s taxi.
